When I left to go to college (late 40's) I kept my hair very very short. I had the urged to be noticed - I was - razzed by dorm mates (cueball). When I first started shaving my head in 1980 I felt conscious of that - again wanting to be noticed. I was but few comments. Now having a shaved head and brows is pretty common and no longer feel conscious of the fact at all. However I admit I notice other guys I see who are sly. I would guess I am noticed also. It becomes more difficult these days for younger guys to get "noticed". Some teenagers spike their hair and dye it. Month ago saw a middle aged guy with green hair with his teenage son who had very bright yellow hair. Even tattoos don't get much notice unless one has a host of them.
You definitely have a point there.
