Bad comment from a Walmart employee
« on: May 12, 2011, 11:07:58 AM »
My wife and I just returned from our local Walmart, and I was disturbed by a comment from an employee there.  She made the comment with my wife present, "You need to grow your hair back, you would look better".  I just fired off a complaint, simply because what if my bald head was not by choice of me shaving, but through getting chemotherapy treatment for cancer or another medically related issue that I had no control over.

I suppose it would be differant if a personal friend had met me while shopping, but then I could just fire back on him/her about the way they look.  But because my wife was present, I was nice and just laughed it off.  But my wife then commented that, "See other people don't like it either" and more debate was in store while shopping.

It pisses me off that a store employee had the balls to try and belittle, or even make a comment about her dislike for my shaved head.

Maybe I'm over reacting, but I feel the comment was not needed, and if their employee's can not say something good about their customers, then keep their fricken mouths shut.

You are not over-reacting, and wife or not, I'd have calmly said "Could you ask your manager to step this way, please?" And then explained it with the employee standing right there.

No one should have the nerve to fire off a personal comment like that, let along an employee to a customer.

I wouldn't let a random Wal-mart employee's opinion bug you...you should have asked her what aisle you can find some HeadSlick on?

:*))  I only wish they carried it, but I did have a can of Fusion that I was buying just for shaving my head with.  I am waiting to hear back from Walmart though, and if I don't get an email back from them, I will see the store manager ASAP.

I wonder how the WM employee would have reacted or felt if you replied "You should loose some weight, you would look better".   I'm sure those would be fighting or crying words.   (I only use the example of loose weight because most of us, me included, could stand to shed a few pounds.)

Face it, people shop at Wal-Mart because it's cheap, and with that type of comment it's obvious that poor taste costs no more.  But, somehow I don't think that's the customer approach that made Sam Walton and his family rich.

Every Wal-Mart has it's low class,no respect for the customer, chip on their shoulder employees. This is not to say that many of them are not good hearted people also.I am sure Wal-Mart also employs a few Sly Guys too!Bottom line,Don't let one negative store associate ruin your day. There will come a day when they will say the wrong thing to the wrong person and get their sorry behind fired or kicked! :x!

Bummer. Not the a rude comment from a Wal*Mart should get under our skin, but it's still a bummer. If I was a store manager, I'd want to know about it so I could have a conversation with the employee about professional behavior. But I wouldn't waste a lot of time or emotional energy over it.

More interesting is your wife's dislike of your slyness. How are you working that out? Obviously you want to be pleasing and attractive to her, but you also want to like the way you look personally and feel good about yourself. (And, for what very little it's worth, I think sly looks good on ya.)

Perfect response! I think handling it this way would be more satisfying than getting down to the ignoramus' level and trading barbs. That seems to be a battle of wits with an unarmed woman.

Should have told her that, her BLEACH blonde hair not look good on her and made her look like a cheap hooker.  She is skinny as a rail, and looks like she's been using the meth to much.  :*))

The wonderful world of walmart, where everyone that works there speaks in poor broken english or is pure unadulterated whisky tango ( white trash )

It warms the heart.
