still a teenager on the fence?
«

really down about my hair for over an year
turned 19 just a bit ago
have had bad receding hairline since i was 17
was kinda cool with it
but then saw pictures of myself when the wind was blowing or in heavy light
so im 19 now and its really bad
but im short pale skin plus my ears rather stick out
with some freckles
plus big forehead
i haven't gone outside in over 7 months without a hat on
now im asking could i pull of a shaved head
i mean im in good shape rather skinny
or would i just look rather too ridiculous with a shaved head?
myb should i just buzz it down?
my hair is probably worse than a nw4 i think
thanks for any help in these tough times

I'm 19, 5'7, skinny, and pale as snow. I don't think I look ridiculous bald, and I don't know what you look like, but I doubt you would either. I also started going bald when I was 17 and it seemed like my whole life, my whole youth, was crashing down around me. Trust me the only thing thats gonna let you get past your hair, is shaving it all off. At first you will get people your age telling you to grow your hair back or you look better with hair. This is just because the only way they remember you your whole life isge with hair. Think about it alot of times when people get dramatic "hair cuts" they look different to us, and often times we liked the way they were before because thats normal to us. This will pass people will grow used to you bald, and now people often tell me I look good bald or that they can't even remember what I'd look like with hair. Also be ready for an onslaught of questions from people asking you why you shave your head. Early in my sly life I used to get very defensive about this subject, when I look back it I think it was because it was such a touchy subject for me still, but now I don't even think twice when I tell people I do it because I was going bald. Also if you tell people you did it because you were going bald it'll show them that you had the balls to tackle your problem and those questions about your hair will stop. Also being 19 you will weather you want to believe it or not be a role model for other guys who start going bald. We might be some of the first of our age going bald, but trust me we won't be the last. When you go bald you start to notice lots of other people around our age going bald. I've had a few people come up to me asking how to shave their heads, because before they saw us they probably were in the same boat and didn't think it was an option. I still have my days where I wish I could have a full head of hair like many other people my age, but thats when you gotta think. Would you rather be a sly badass or a balding guy hiding in the shadows. Trust me do it you won't regret it.

If you look through the last few days' worth of posts, you'll see one thing over and over again, the only regret we seem to have is that we didn't do it sooner. Again, try it for 30 days, if you don't like it, let it grow back.
For me, I enjoy everything about it. I enjoy shaving. I enjoy the feel of a slick dome. I enjoy the feel of my wife or anyone for that matter touching my dome. It's cheaper than other ways of grooming and, once you get used to it, actually doesn't take all that much time.
It's almost a weird hobby for some...the care and feeding of a shaved head can fill volumes if you let it. Find what's affordable and works for you and use those products.
And...I'm no longer balding. That "stage" is over. No, "high forehead," no "cotton top."

HEY ROSEPEDAL!,Kenny is right!Shaving your head will eliminate the problem and the worries associated with it.Most of us sly guys regret not making our move to the Sly way of life sooner and putting ourselves through unneccesary grief over it.Also, having a nice, smooth "slick melon" feels great.Just be careful when you do the deed because your head can burn easily in the sun. This is especially true for you as you say you are light complected.Be sure to get some sunscreen or wear a hat of some kind if you are going to hang out outside. Good luck and cheer up,you are far from alone. You will always have us here@SlyBaldGuys to support you! 8)P.S following the thirty day rule is good advice too!I am on approximately my 14th day of SLY and still loving it!

You've buzzed it short - it's now only a short step to being a proper bald guy. Take the bold step & become a confident bald guy.
All the best.

Let's see a picture. I'll bet it doesn't look nearly as bad as you think it does. You need to give yourself some time to get used to it.

Never base a decision like this on your mother's reaction.

Never base a decision like this on your mother's reaction.
If you are 19, then you are legally an adult. Mom's approval is not needed on this one.
If you don't like the shaved look even after living with it for a few days, the hair will always grow back. No worries.

It's hard to base it without a picture, but I'm sure its not as bad as you think. Like i said people ARE going to freak out at first they can't imagine you without hair. My mom freaked out at first, hell even my dad did and he's a bald guy with a horseshoe you think he'd be more understanding. Trust me though with time people get used to it and they stop caring. If you look like a female cancer patient try some facial hair.
