Getting ready to take the plunge
« on: April 23, 2011, 05:18:03 PM »
Hi all,

I am new here, been lerking around for a few days, but I have been thinking about shaving my head for a few years now.  Well I am finally ready, but I do not know where to start.  I have seen some people say shave with a electric razor first and then shave with a regular razor, but I do not know if I have too much hair or not to do that step.  I just tried posting a picture of me in the members gallery.  Not sure if thats how I get the picture to appear on the side.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Just noticed I can attach a picture, so I included what my hair is like now.

Welcome to the Forum, Mike!

You'll need to buzz that off with a shaver before you put a razor to it. Get a local barber to do it so you don't have t buy one. Then take your favorite razor to it! Go slow and be careful those first few shaves.

Use good quality shaving products.... many prefer creams. I'm a big fan of HeadSlick.

As others have said, use the clippers first, and go SLOW. Don't want to end up with a bunch of nicks and razor rash. Don't forget to keep the pressure on the blade to a minimum. Welcome to the forum, I am new here myself. :)

I am new too. But I fell like I got it tuff. I wear a hair piece. So I would be going to a shaved head, from a full head of hair!

It can be tough for a lot of guys, and there are numerous former "piece" men here.  I'm sure they'll jump in and lend you a hand with the particular concerns of guys such as yourself.  In the end, bottom line--it is always the same no matter where we start or come from, regret for having waited so long to gain the freedom and confidence of the Sly Life.    See you soon on the sly side.
