Into my 6th year...why did I ever have hair???
website trouble...
«

A website that I use frequently for information about AKC dog shows quit working for me about a week back wiht no warning.
Here's waht I've done so far to try and figure this out;
I've spoken with the company that manages the website andthey know of no troubles.
I've had a neighbor who uses the same ISP try and get on it - she was successful.
I've spoken with my ISP and they have verified my connection and did something about forcign a new IP - whatever that means.
I am an Internet Explorer 9 user with Windows 7.
In case there was some sort of security feature inadvertently activated in IE9 I downloaded and installed Firefox - I still can't get the blasted site to load.
Right now it looks as if there is some sort of security feature in Windows 7 that is causing this problem.
When I try to load the site I do not get a mesage that says the site is blocked , all I get is the standard "Explorer can not display tha webpage" and when I run the diagnostic it tells me that things check out fine - it has to be a problem with the website.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks

Download MalWareBytes (it's free) and run a full scan. It sounds like you might have a bug-a-boo.
You'll be surprised at what MWB might find.

MWB found some sort of garbage in one of the registry files but, unfortunately, getting rid of it it didn't fix the problem I'm having.

I tried Firefox both before and after I ran Malware still nothing. It seems tome as if I've eliminated all the possibilities except some sort of block in Windows 7. But I know I neverwillingly set any sort of block on it though that's not to say I didn't inadvertently do something stupid.

I would try to reset your browser cache on your primary browser if you haven't tried already.

Another thing to try:
Internet Explorer version 5 and later offer the ability for heighten security and privacy. You can block a site by following the directions below:
1. Load your Internet explorer
2. Click Tools
3. Click Internet Options
4. Click the Privacy tab
5. Under the Privacy window, Click Sites
6. See if that site is in your blocked sites group

I've tried that in IE and not finding the problem is the reason I loaded Mozzilla's Firefox, where I'm having the same problem. Since I get the same result in both IE and Firefox I'm guessing that the problemmust originate in something that operates over both of them. So I'm wondering if anyone knows the ins and out of parental controls etc inWindows 7?
Thanks for the time everyone is putting into this.

You're using an Anti-virus / Internet Security software, aren't you? It might block the website for some reason.

I turned off the anti-virus and still had no luck. I also went back to a restore point from prior to when this started - still no good.
When I try to open the website I
don't
get a message saying that the site is blocked. All that I get is the same page you get when a website is offline for some reason.

Turn that anti-virus back on Dude.............. and then re-run MWB to be sure you didn't get any infections while it was turned off.
