Hi all, my name is Ed...I just went sly yesterday and today was offered a job interview. Should I let myself get a week's growth going? Would that be more professional-looking than sly or somewhere in between sly and a week's growth? I REALLY need this job...it is high-paying and professional and I'd love to advance in my field. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My advice: head clean as a whistle and dress nicely. It's a killer combination.

TSB is right, remember it's what's inside your head and your ability to communicate that, not the hair or lack thereof on the outside, that they're interested in. No one pays for hair unless the job is for an actor for a shampoo commercial! -

I'm currently looking and have had similar question. I've settled on sly but with minimal or no shine -for me matte seems to look better with a suit and tie. Plus it's less distracting. Good luck wth the interview and let us know how it goes.
Might sound silly but take an hour or so with a friend (or spouse) whose opinion you can trust tobe honest and experiment with the wardrobe. You may find that darker colors look better for business attire when sly. I've never been a person to wear black or very dark grey but in keeping with what you'll read elsewhere on here black/dark always goes well with sly. -

Definitely DO NOT let the hair grow out. You need to be the confident sly guy excited aboout how he looks and the job. ANything else would really be lying about your look and presenting them an image of some guy who maybe might be sly or maybe might not be. Being smooth will show decisiveness and of course since you love it so much it shows confidence. Did you ever consider that the fact you finally went sly and the great energy that came with it is the reason why the job opportunity came along just now ?
Your haircut is your business and no one elses. But do wear a nice new suit and tie. Maybe dark blue pinstripe or black. Even if you will not be wearing a suit in the job still dress that way. It gives you an edge as if it were a uniform. -

Most folks don't make any distinction between a week's worth of stubble and shaved smooth. Both are considered bald. You don't have time to grow out anything that wouldn't be considered bald, so just keep it shaved smooth and be confident. Good luck.

Why would you want to go meet someone new and NOT just be yourself?? Keep it shaved if that's what YOU want, walk in with full confidence, and make that job yours.

I just had an interview myself last week, there were more guys then gals and most of the guys were closed cropped with three baldies including myself. All three baldies and 2 high & tight guys got the jobs. What do you think you should do. Shave it bald that day and good luck.

A shaved head and a good suit can be a classy, "GQ" combination. What makes it classy is the confidence of the individual. Feel good about yourself when you walk into the interview and half the battle is over right there. From your picture, I'm positive you can pull it off fine.
The bottom line is you want to work with people who value your opinion and what you can bring to the team; and hopefully grow with the job over time. I have had wonderful jobs and crappy jobs in my career. You are evaluating those you will be working with as much as they are evaluating you. Remember, if you have a job that pays the bills, you can be more selective; of course that changes with your work and living situation.
Good luck, go as yourself and remember to have fun.

P.S. Also do a little internet research on the company so you can talk intelligently about them. -

Depends on the company / firm, I think. Better to stay sly and dress well - a well-groomed candidate is viewed better by older managers. If you came in with a week's growth, you wouldn't look as sharp and it would raise the (unspoken) question about what you were doing, i.e., are you going to let it grow back or going to shave it again?

I agree with KC. Keep it shaved so that your confidence level stays up. You look great sly, besides they are not hiring you what is outside your head, but what is inside your head. And yes go on the internet and learn all you can about this company. Be yourself because nobody else can be you.

go to the interview with research done, well dressed and freshly sly - it will work to your ADVANTAGE.
you'll make a good impression by knowing what the job is and about. being well dressed will show you understand how to work in a corporate environment. being sly will do a few things; you'll be more confident knowing you are putting yourself forward as you are and it will give you an extra edge when it comes to making an impression/standing out in the crowd.
