By the end of last Summer I was disgusted with how I looked. I had picked up a lot of wieght over the last couple of years. I decided that come 2011 I was going to get my fat ass in shape. I decided to change my diet and to get off my butt and start exercising. I'm 50 years old and I want to be around for many more years.... to see my kids grow up and marry, and to see the grandkids that I hope to have someday marry.
I wasn;t sure what type of exercise program I wanted to do but I wanted one that I could use for years to come and one that I knew had worked for people that I knew personally.
Along came our own BaldRob. Rob was in the same place as me about a year ago and decided to do something about it. He decided to do P90X. His transformation has been unbelievable! Over 60 lbs. weight loss and 5 inches or so off his waist. Rob has personally given me advice on P90X and what to expect. Thanks Rob!
A Friend of mine from Church told me a story about how P90X literally saved his life. He's two years older than me.
So I decided back in mid February to give P90X a try.
I'm 6'-1" and on February 13th I weighed in at a hefty 244 lbs. I decided to take a week or so before I started P90X to watch the videos, change my diet, and hopefully lose a few pounds before starting.
Monday February 28th was my first P90X workout.... and I thought I was going to keel over. Very hard... and so was every work out that week. I couldn't complete any of the work outs but I did every thing that I could in each workout for as long as I could. If that was 20 minutes then that was it. If it was 40 minutes that was it. Just do what I could!
I am now in the middle of my 4th week of P90X and already the difference is amazing. I feel great, my muscles constantly feel "engaged" all day long, my weight is down, and my clothes are feeling better on me.
I can do exercises now that I could BARELY do the first week. For example, week 1- One legged push-up, barely one; this week 6 with no problem (even surprised myself).
I'm down a total of 16 lbs. since February 13th but more importantly I feel great. I've got some flexiblity and balance back, my cardio gets better every day, and I'm starting to look "fit".
My ultimate goal is to be at 200 lbs. by the end of Summer.... but more importantly my goal is just to be in shape. Having a flat belly when I take my shirt off will be nice.
My wife has been amazed at how quickly my body is changing.
P90X is VERY tough..... especially the Yoga!! This is a committment but a committment to yourself. At this point I can only complete a couple of the workouts but I do what I can everyday and my perforrmance in all the workouts has gotten substantially better daily. I'm hoping that by the end of the second month I will be rolling thru them (except for maybe that Yoga!).
Peace!
Sounds like you're off to an excellent start. Starting a fitness regimen can be difficult, but if you do it consistently for a long enough period of time, it becomes a habit that's really hard to break. I really try to arrange my schedule around my workouts and on the rare occasion where I have to miss a workout, I really resent it. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress.
Thanks Razor!Since you're one of the really fit guys on here, your encouragement means a lot to me.

It took longer than two months to get to the point you were at, it won't take that long to get rid of it--just regular, consistent work, and make sure it is truely peace, and not a "piece" of pizza, candy or other empty calories. Tell them to keep that piece.

If you get tired of it, take one of your older belts, put it on and notice where you used to notch it--NICE.
Funny you should mention belts. I am currently at the smallest notch on the belt. If I lose another 10 pounds I'll have to purchase a new belt! .... probably a Harley one......
