So, even though I'm only on my third shave since the 2nd, I've been reading up and saw a few recommend a drop or two of aloe vera to be added to shaving gel/cream for ultra slick and great feel.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah........
To those of you preaching this, please add a disclaimer for newbies. This is not to be done without first getting the basics of shaving your head down with simple gel + razor or whatever you start with. While I didn't gouge myself too bad, I do have a few holes I'm leaking from. The shave was done (as normal) with a new blade, Fusion gel and patience, with the only addition this time being Aloe. Maybe it made it too slick or maybe I still don't know pressure and pushed too hard but for those starting out, I'd say keep the Aloe for post shave, not during it.
Just thought I'd share my experiences.
I haven't tried aloe in the mix but I will say I've used the Fusion I use on my face and have found a greater tendency to knick with it.
Guessing it's the way the blades are set up when trying to work on the back of my head. I love the shave it gives but not the knicks...or the cost.
I've found that Schick Extreme 3's give me the safest shave on my head. Have a Headblade and, though I love their wash/scrub/gel/etc, I haven't been able to master it.
T3ase,
Yes.. the ALOE does make thing a wee bit SLICK!
Taking is SLOW is the KEY to a NICK-FREE shave!
I mix a bit in with my shaving gel and massage the combo into the scalp, let it soak and soften a minute or two, then shave using the either my Mach III or ye ol' HeadBlade.
Because of the slickness involved, I agree there is a bit of a learning curve, but the Aloe makes your scalp feel like a million bucks afterwards!!

Gotcha. I'll chalk this one up to me still learning my way around then and try it at a later date.
I do love me some freshly shaved baldness, though!
So since I posted this, I've lowered the amount of Aloe a few times with the Mach 3 Fusion razor and still had undesirable results. Then I found the HB and after a few attempts to learn it, threw in some Aloe.
WOW.
Yes, I know larger fonts can be annoying. However, it's worth it here. When you shave properly (however that happens) with Aloe, I'm with you guys. AMAZING. Throw just a bit of Aloe on afterwards and you're incredibly slick. Well done.
t3ase,
So I tried the aloe during shave and what a difference. Nice smooth nick free shave just love it. Thanks for the tip
Hey, I gotta give credit where credit is due.. I think it was Captain's post I saw mentioning Aloe.. Once you slow your roll a bit and kinda learn the Aloe way, it's awesome.
