Glossy or Matte
« on: April 12, 2007, 06:14:59 PM »
What do you guys go with?  At this point, I'm using Baldguyz lotion after shaving.  I'm leaning toward Headblade's Matte lube.  Perhaps I'll get a sampler of both Headblade matte and shiney.  What are the major differences?  Any suggestions?

By the way, I'm addicted to the feeling/looks/SLYNESS of by bald head now! :)

It depends on the day for me.  If I know I'm going to be in the sun alot, I'll use Matte for Men's lotion with 25 spf.  At night  I like either HeadLube Matte or Glossy depending on if I'm just chilling or going out.  I like to shine if I'm going out.  As for the winter months, I was going shiny with Tolsom's lotion with SPF 15.

If you can't tell, I'm big on wearing sunscreen.

I will be too!  I teach physical education and am outside most the day during Fall and Spring.  I mow a couple yards in the summer with a crew of a few other teachers, so SPF will definitely be in my SLY arsenal.

I prefer the glossy.  Not just because it gives your dome more of a shine but because it feels to me it moisturizes the dome better than the matte.  But you can't go wrong either way.  Basic differences are that the glossy will do just that...It will make your head look shiny.  Matte dulls it down a bit.

To keep it shiney, I've read using aloe vera gel and then blow drying it for the ultimate shine. Anyone ever try that technique?

Depends on the day for me. During the week at work it's usually Glossy. On the weekends it will depend. If I'm working around the house, I may not shave at all, but when I do it's Matte. Going out on the weekends it's Glossy.

I ordered the 8oz. matte and gloss.  Can't hurt having both.   8)

HeadBlade Matte finish for the Schro. If I'm out in the sun, I'll use L'Oreal Comfort Max SPF 15 After Shave Balm. GREAT stuff, reasonable price.

O0 Ahoy, GBorn: It depends. If I'm feeling sedate, it's Headlube matte. If I want to emphasize the dome, it's glossy. There seems to be a difference in these preparations: glossy is slightly greasy and a little goes a long way. Matte is drier and seems to have an evening effect, reducing the shadow. Matte also calms razor burn more. I use the BaldGuyz products as well. I am curious about how warm weather and beating sun will effect the dome. Medic and others have insisted on using a sun-blocker. I do not believe the Headlube moisturizers are sun-blockers. Any observations? Professor Melon
