I agree with hezabaldpiper. sometimes you just don't like your hair. and that was one of the reasons why I started shaving. it was graying and getting more wirey. people suggested coloring it, but i just buzzed it shorter and shorter and eventualy shaved it all off.

I am totally BBC. If I would not shave I would have full head of hair (see my gallery pictures). But I prefer my head to be hairless. It is just a personal decision like having a certain haircut. I know some people don't see a shaved head as a haircut but for me it is. At the beginning it takes some courage. But it gets better! Believe me.

I also agree with Seahawk Guy. You will get used to it & your confidence will grow the more you shave your head, I guarantee it. Keep with it.

Of course a smooth headshave IS a haircut. It's my favorite haircut. I love it. Love to be completely bald.

Thanks for the dialogue.  I've got a decent amount of hair, but want to try the sly look.  Just a little worried about the reaction I'll get.  Any suggestions?

I just had mine shaved on Saturday and love the look and feel. I've had very positive feedback from most everyone I know. People that don't know you will not even give it a second thought since there are many of us out there now.

Go for it you'll love it. If for some reason it doesn't work for you just let it grow back in.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.   You're right - I'm thinking everyone will notice, but to most people, I'm a stranger!  I'm planning to do it at a St. Baldrick's event, then go smooth for the summer.

I had hair down to my collar a little bit over a year ago.  I have two cowlicks as well, which makes shaving the spots a pain, but I also have a shadow.  When I shaved it about 2 weeks ago it was 70s and sunny.  March decided it hates me and now it is 30s and 40s and gloomy out.

I shaved at 11:45am, it's now 2:15pm.  I can feel my stubble, though when I was shaving and a bit after you could put a baby's bottom and my head in a blind test and not be able to tell the difference.  I do remember though, when I first did the shave I was very self-conscious of it.  The difference between how random people treat you is a pretty cool flip.  People in general seem more cautious around me now that I don't have hair, they're more likely to hold a door open, move out of your way in the bars, etc, and they're also more receptive of you doing the same for them.

So in a nutshell, being bald is fun, while having hair is...well having hair.
I got bored one day.

Your seeing what is really a positive as a negative. This is repetitive but....you've got a great shape and the slight shadow is just a matter of learning better methods of shaving. Of course your ears are more prominent, everyone's are but very quickly they return to being "just ears" and you won't notice them. It looks great and keep up a good thing. !!

Thanks everyone for the positive comments  and information  O0 . I let my hair grow back of out of laziness after i nick my head the last time shaving my head. Going to shave my head again and hopefully keep up with it .  Am more confident about being bald and shaving my head.  Hopefully over time the " shadow" and the " Velcro" feel will go away.
You guys are the best  8). so glad I found this site

Good for you for going sly.  Give it the 30 days.  Shaving will be much easier by then.  Keep it up for the 30, it's very important!!!
