Shaving head when you are not balding ect
«

I shaved my head today starting out with a think unruly head of hair. I am not sure about it though , my ears stick out and tried my hardest to get a close as I possibly could with the headblade, but it is not totally smooth in places with tiny stubble.
Any guys out there that started with a full head of hair and decided to shave it bald ? or am I crazy for wanting to be bald when I had hair to start out with?

Hi Gregmi, welcome to SBGs.
Don't judge your new look too soon. You've got a great shaped head and the bit of facial hair is a great complement to the shaved head. Guess it takes time to get a really good, close shave with a Headblade. I tried one - never got the hang of it. Went back to my Wilkinson razor with Quattro titanium blades for face and head. Gives me a really good close shave.
Reckon your new look is pretty good. Stay with it.
Lots of good advice on getting a good shave on the forum.

Hi Greg,
I agree with Seahawk, give it some time. I also think you look just fine. I also have a full head of hair and have been shaving it since 1999. Did let it grow back for a couple years but missed the great feeling of smooth head. It takes a while for the noggin to get used to being shaved. Some days my head shaves super smooth while on other days I can't seem to get rid of the "velcro". When I first started out I was real good at nicking myself, but it rarely happens now.
Btw for me the headblade is my weapon of choice. I use cheap blades but never use a blade for more than one shave
Good luck. Will be interested to hear how it goes after a bit.

I think you look great bald. I don't think you are crazy for wanting to shave a full head of hair. When i started shaving, i did exactly that. I just think of it as a choice of haircuts. I actually think i look best bald. Give it a try for the week or month. You'll get use to the look and may reach a point any bit of stubble is unappealing. Use a good razor to shave and to get the dome smooth. I put on a layer of King of Shave Oil and then put cream on top of that before using the razor. That reduces any irritation and burns. Good luck.

looks good on you. I thought about it for years even before mine got as thin as it was in the end - I should have gone for it. As to the shadow it will become less obvious as your head gets some color to it. I had similar and have been using the Jergen's Natural Glow moisturizer that I read about on here - it has definitely made things better after just a few days.
I'm still working at learning the Headblade way - from what I read here most guys seem to be able to master it. However there are a few of us that manage to turn into blood donors when shaving with one. As for me I'm currently using Schick Extremes (disposable with a flex blade) and having very good results.
Stick with and get some moderate sun or use the Jergen's to get a bit of color.
Oh, and one other thing that is also repeated elsewhere on here, the Natural Glow stuff is a self tanner but it does not turn your skin orange when used correctly.

When I started shaving my head I was just barely starting to bald but I hated my hair. I did not like the bald look at first and I regretted it. But after I shaved it the second time I really started liking it a lot. I find it to be the most comfortable haircut I've ever had.
Not only that I have freckles, so once the hair came off the freckles came out on top of my mellon =)
When I shave I use gilette shave gel and the mach 4 ex blade, I go against the grain to get that really "Sly" feel, and if I can go against the grain anyone can, I have sensitive skin =/
Stick with it you may learn to love it

Hi gregmi,
a agree with razorhead.
I think a bald or shaved head is a hairstile like any other and I choose that hairstile cause I liked it.
Actually I was in an exhibition of tutanchamun the agyptian pharao and learned that the agyptians in those days kept their hair short or shaved because they thought it was chic - and so do I.
A bit of shadow is normal if you are bbc and have dark hair, but a good razor and going against the grain can minimize that. It will most likely allways be visible though, but why not?
It just shows that you are bbc and chose that hairstile. ;-)

I can only agree with what was said previously: shaving your head is just a choice of haircut like any other. If you like it bald, keep it that way. With time, you will improve your technique and get a much closer shave. You will get a smooth scalp, however, the grey shadow may remain. That's part of the look and I think it looks great that way. I am not balding either and have been shaving my head for a couple of years (and I have the grey shadow on my scalp in the winter because my skin is pale). If you come from a full head of hair, it may take you some time to adjust but I guarantee you that this a look that you will want to keep. See how it goes and keep us posted.

There's absolutely no problem someone who has no MPB shaving his head smooth.
I do it myselkf. I have a full head, if I let my hair grow back there'll be plenty of hair, but I simply love to shave my head smooth again and again and I don't care at all with an occasional shadow -- love to be sly.

I was moving that direction but unfortunately "relapsed." I love bald heads and I'm not losing my hair--not noticeably, at least. I got it as low as a #1.5 on top and 000 sides back and kept it that way for a while--maybe 2 months. But now it's about 3/4 inch and spiked on top...I stopped coming here and slid.....

I agree with the guys keep shaving it. I have a lot of hair but it is my choice to shave it. I love being bald and honestly, I get way more double takes from both men and women. Give yourself a month or so, and you will get it quite smooth eventually.
