First of all, let me say I am glad I have found this forum. I am 25 and going to be a Norwood 7 (probably within a year). My balding story is quite interesting though. I am already really thin, but about a year ago I began taking finasteride (propecia). I know probably not the best idea but for me I just had to give it a try because I know I would always have that "what if" thing if I never tried it.
Man the side effects suck... Everything that they mention as a side effect I experienced... lowered libido, gynecomastia, hypogonadism, overall lack of energy and who knows what else if I had kept taking it. However, for me at least, it did improve my hair. Also it decreased my body hair.
But after giving it some thought, I decided to quit the med about two weeks ago. I ALREADY feel better. Gynecomastia has decreased and things are mainly back to normal. I am lucky because for some guys they could have permanent side effects. So anyways, as you guys say on this website, taking this med is a gamble. You never know which side effects you will experience and whether they will go away if you quit. So not trying the med is probably the best option.
Anyways, I look forward to learning from you guys about how to shave my head best. haha...
