« on: February 01, 2011, 03:22:16 PM »
Iv'e decided (as of just now) that to compliment my return to slyness, im going to attempt to grow abit of facial fuzz.
Really gonna need a beard trimmer if im going to make this work! any suggestions?

To make it work, unless you're really positive about what you can grow, let it go for a month, yes a month, then trim if you must.  Then, let it mature for at least 2 more months to see what it has the potential to become--most guys really can't tell until this point except for those few who have an extremely dense beard.  Remember, 10-20 minutes and you're sly, it's three months to see what your beard is going to be, and six to get a truly mature beard.  Beards are a study in patience.

Hmm it might prove difficult to remain untamed for so long in my current working environment.. Patients already give me a hard enough time with the 'slaphead' lol.
Guess it all comes down to just how much i want a decent bit of beard.
Thanks for the advice Saint, I'll sleep on it!

The "rough and untidy" look doesn't last that long, it looks like fashionable stubble for a week, then about a week and a half and it will be apparent as a beard, so although it may seem long to you, it passes quickly.  Just had a CPA working with us let his grow, and as he's getting to a month now, it's looking right respectible.

Go for it !
Grow out as much as you can then shape it.

Started my Van Dyke 7 weeks ago.
After about 10 days the itching nearly got the better of me.
After another few days it began to feel soft.
Like the feel of it now.

Hi Lonestral,

I like the looks of your Van dyke. It looks good on You. I started to grow one a couple of years ago and like it. It did itc somewhat at first but is fine now.

Take care.

Great, just remember, it's less than 20 minutes to Sly.  A beard is patience.  If you feel like cutting it off, WAIT 48 hours.  It will be worth it.

How is the growth coming along Redgrave101?
Thanks for the positive vote baldjoeg.

My wife arrived back from her travels on Monday.

She knew that I had grown some hair on my face because her friends told her.

There was an initial W.T.F. did you do that for ? Don't like it. You look like a Chinaman.

She agreed to give it a week to see how it goes.

It's natural colour has returned.

I am getting the hang of squaring the tash to the top lip
and trimming the length and shape with the clippers.

We shall see what next Monday brings.

Ahaha.. As you can imagine by the length of time thats passed, i gave up on the goatee thing.

But as of about one week ago I'm giving it another shot! Thanks again for the advice previously given, I intend to follow it and give this at least 1 month before pulling out the razor (or keeping it of course!)

Just thought i would update this topic since i had left it unanswered way back in January.
