What was your favorite childhood TV program?
« on: January 14, 2011, 08:51:40 AM »
My favorite was The Andy Griffith Show.  What a great cast - Sheriff Andy, Deputy Barney Fife, Aunt Bea, Opie, Floyd the Barber, Otis the Town Drunk, Mr. Darlin and the Darlin Boys - Don't forget Charlene, Earnest T. Bass.  The black and white episodes were the best.

Let's hear from everyone else.

There were so many, but Gunsmoke comes to mind for non-Sitcoms.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Wow. It really depends upon what point in time. I can remember adoring The Flintstones during its original prime-time run (yes, I'm old as dirt). Growing up I can remember being glued to the set for Gilligan's Island, The Partridge Family, and Lost in Space. But I'd have to say that my all-time favorite was Jonny Quest.

Funny how on some of these shows, what seemed funny way back then, loses something 50 something years later, but they are all still memories nonetheless...

Fun Facts I found through Googling , Yahoo-ing, and/or Bing-ing...

Bill Scott, Jay Ward's partner and head writer of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, was the original voice of Bullwinkle Moose.
Red Skelton sued Jay Ward claiming that the voice used for the moose was an infringement of a copywright of his character Clem Kaddlehopper. Skelton lost the case in court.

Jackie Gleason attempted to sue Hanna-Barbera over the Flintstones, but then dropped the suit because he soon became addicted to watching the series.

Jimmy Durante attempted to sue Hanna-Barbera over the voice for the HB character "Augie Doggie". Claim fell to the waste-side just as it did with Skelton.

"The Mystery of Barney Rubble's Eyes". In the very early beginning of the series, Barney had pupils, then he didn't, then soon after, he had pupils again. This attributed to someone "falling asleep on the job" and missing this on the "inspection of the cells" stage in the HB Paint Dept before it went into production.

Mel Blanc was a fill-in for the voice of Barney Rubble while HB's original choice, "Daws" Butler", (voice behind Yogi Bear, Huck Hound, Quick Draw, and a host of other HB classic characters) was out sick. HB decided they liked Blanc better than Daws for this particular character, and put Blanc under contract.

Lots more stuff of this nature all over the web...just goes to show i have nothin' else better to do with my time...LOL
