Today is New Years Eve and many people tonight will be celebrating with alchohol.
I don't know about laws in other states but here are a few from South Carolina to consider.
1st time DUI offender bail in excess of $1000.00
Lose license and drive on a restricted license for 6 months
Specialty insurance for 3..yes 3 years can well exceed $200.00 per month
8 week "drunk school" over $500.00
Attorney fees in excess of $6000.00
All this is if you DON"T kill or injure someone.
Not to mention the emotional turmoil on yourself and family
How do I know this? I was a DUI offender in 2006 ( I have a previous post on SBG about my experience.)
So tonight be smart and have a designated driver or better yet stay home.
One more thing..Don't tell yourself "that will never happen to me"....I used to say the same thing so don't be stupid like I was. It would be terrible for your family and friends to see your mug shot on your local jail website or worse yet in the death announcements tomorrow.
Hammerdrill376, very sage advice to all of the members here.Thank you and have a Happy New Year.
Hopefully the guys will listen and more than their own embarrassment and pain, the advice you have give n could save someone from death or a life impared. But one other thing, all of us need to be aware that for the next 36 hours or so, there will be drunk drivers on the road so drive defensively, realize that dumb people are behind the wheel. Good luck. And thanks again, Hammerdrill
Listen to John guys...... he is a very sincere man and for him to use himself as an example so the rest of us can be safe says a lot about him.
Peace........ and safe partying tonight Gentlemen.
Great reminder hammer, there are many options for alternative transportation these days if you want to have a night out.
Also keep your guard up out there if you're on the road, as saintc mentioned.
Have a safe and Happy New Year guys!
Hope everyone made it thru in one piece. Happy New Year to all.
