Some like it hot
« on: December 22, 2010, 11:26:55 PM »

Bear's 12-Chile Nuclear Napalm Jam

Made with 12 varieties of chiles (9 of which I grew on my back patio).

Rather incendiary. Quite.

Now that looks tasty.  Love the hors d'oeuvres where they put pepper jelly on cream cheese for crackers.  Great on cold meat leftovers too.

Indeed. Also good as a glaze for roast meats, and I especially love it on crunchy fish tacos.

Man that looks good Bear!! I LOVE hot chilies! I'm just back from a Thai lunch with my wife. The owner of the restaurant said to me today." OH! You like #10 hot!". (I always ask for the tiny little special jar of dried and ground Thai chilies they keep in the kitchen.)

If you find you have an extra jar of that lying around I'll be glad to provide my mailing addresss!!!  ;)

Merry Christmas Chilie Claus!

Booted....you have more guts than I do when it comes to making jam!  I usually make blackberry jam and give it away at Christmas.  But this year it is peach jam from my stepbrother's orchard in Washington's beautiful Wenatchee Valley!  It is in the sunny part of the state!  Anyway, Merry Christmas BB!

Thanks marsh! (Hope you're feeling much better!)

The peach jam sounds yummy!

Here's the full compliment of jams for this season:

From left to right: loquat jelly (from loquats grow on trees in my yard), the 12-chile Nuclear Napalm Jam, Spiced Cherry Jam, Tropical Rum Preserves, and Lime Marmalade

Booted, those look like jars of pure fire.  I like spicy stuff, but from the description those sound WAY too hot for my tastes!

My grandma makes delicious jams and spreads.  I've had many assorted jars from her:  peach marmalade, strawberry jam, muscadine jelly, apple butter, etc.  Great stuff.

Now THAT'S a cool sign!  O0
Of course, afterwards, I'd need a toxic waste sign to go with it!  :*))
I think I'll stick with my Christmas Marmalade.
Say, have you tried any applications, such as removing paint, or dripped any on a coffee table and taken the finish off?  ;)  There has to be a multiplicity of uses for something that rates high on the Scoville scale.

Have you ever put your chili jam over Brie and eaten it with crackers?

Oh yes. That's quite the classic application.

My JalapeƱo Jelly is also great for that.
