TRON Legacy
« on: December 19, 2010, 08:39:28 AM »
My fiance took me out to see TRON Legacy on my birthday...

I liked it, but once again was disappointed with the 3-D upcharge!!!

At least at the beginning of it, they have a disclaimer for it that most scenes are 2D because it was intended for 2D.

I have never watched the orignial, but now have the urge to find it...and it seems rather difficult.  In fact it is going for crazy prices on eBay!!!

Is it in the Disney vault?  If so, I'm hoping they release it with TRON Legacy when it comes out on Blue-ray/DVD...

Just saw it. Pretty cool movie, visually stunning. In regards to the message at the start of the movie regarding 2D segments, my guess is that the scenes that occurred in the "real world" were intentionally left as 2D to add to the dramatic visual difference when Sam jumped into "the Grid" (in which everything was presented in 3D). The movie makers wanted people to put their 3D glasses on from the get-go so that the effect was more dramatic when the jump occurred.

From what I've heard, the original is pretty lame (even though it has attained cult status) and nowhere near as cool as "Legacy". They've created a nice base here for some interesting sequels.

Tron-Legacy didn't really live up to its potential.  There is so much they could have done with it, considering the advances that have been made in the last thirty years.  Instead, they were still playing the same old "Light Cycles" and "Killer Frisbee" games from the original movie.

To put things in perspective, the original Tron was the first movie we rented when we got our new Beta recorder...

I thought it made a good music video for Daft Punk.

When it came out on Blue-Ray...I got the original Tron as well.  I gained more appreciation for them both as movies...and the fact that Tron wouldn't play, so I was my reminder to update my firmware on my Blue-Ray player!!! ;D
