Hello everyone,
I am new to sly bald guys and i am so glad that i found this website.
This topic may have been spoken about before - please enlighten me, so i can check the post.(thanks)
Anyway here we go:
I shaved off my locks which i had for 6 years due to my hair thinning in the middle - experts said that it was due to my locks being too heavy for my scalp!!

BUT, i love being bald!!

Being apart of black ethnic culture, i get razor bumps/burns on my neck/back of the head! AND i get nicks and cuts alot too.
I use gilette sensor and king of shave sensitive skin gel. I shave every other day. i exfoliate my scalp everyday in the shower. I used The real shaving company after balm or natural shea butter (realised i have very dry scalp) Cant figure out what i must be doing wrong! Yes i do shave against the grain because i hate feeling the stubble on my head. Though i try to take extra care in the neck/back of the head area.
I am thinking of buying the bump stopper razor (although it near impossible to buy in the UK). I am also considering buying the Wahl balding clippers. Has anyone used these products before? are they any good?
I have found that shaving in the bath is great - i dont get any irritations and i have a all round good shave! but having a bath everyday is not really practical!
ok ok i said enough!

Any tips/advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks in Adv.
Welcome, Gordon , without being specific, look in the FORUM under Trimming your head / hair and other categories . Much to read in there.
Thanks Magoo, i will do.

The balding clippers are nice but won't get you to the level of what a razor would do, or even close to it. From my experience, the balding clippers would cut your hair to the equivalent of letting your hair grow out (after shaving) for about 2-3 days.
Since going sly, I haven't touched the balding clippers. If you continually have irritation you should look into trying an electric shaver like the Panasonic Linear wet/dry (can get them refurbished off ebay for a good discount) as you probably won't ever get bumps from that.
i know this is very late in replying but many thanks and will try the suggestion above.
try using a good scrub in the shower and to shave use the king of shaves
alphagel shave gel and oil.also some witch hazel after you shave hope
it helps
Try the King of Shaves shaving oil if you haven't already. I have found that shaving oil works better for my black friends here in the US. Remember to let the blade do the work and don't use too much pressure.
I used the Balding clipper for a long time. But, these day's I'm getting tired of blade adjustments/replacements and that sort of thing. So I resumed use of the ordinary razor which does feel cleaner I must add
