  Yet they refer to thier shirts as 'blouses'.

 Not sure about you guys, but when I hear the word blouse, images of my grandmother immediately spring to mind.

First, I want to thank all you veterans and actives for your service.  It's brave men like you that allow me my choice of faith, the ability to own a gun, and the freedom to say whatever I want!  I was raised with the idea that I was going to West Point on completing high school.  Had the grades and the connections... and the desire.  Grandpa was a CWO4 and had things "lined up."  Found out in my medicals that I  had heart issues. No go! So, the military in a weird way directly saved my life.   I decided then to still have a life devoted to serving my country, hence my becoming a teacher.  My eldest son Christopher is a US Marine, 0311 (America's answer to 911!!!) He just was honorably discharged on a medical (70% VA disability rating) and we just got his DD2-14.  He only served one year, but we are proud of him nonetheless.  He's way bummed (not to complete his enlistment and not able to pursue a career in law enforcent as was the plan!) He loves his corpsmen and still speaks reverently of them.  Again thanks!

Army 6 1/2 years and counting. 5 1/2 of those with the 82nd Airborne Division and presently working in a Joint assignment.

Michael said it well.  Freshman and Sophmore year in college I gave the military some thought.  Unfortunately, I learned I would be 4-F. 

I have the greatest and highest regard for our men and women in uniform.  Without them. I would not be here typing this.  In the curio cabinet in my dining room is a small shrine; it's the Navy and Army pictures (USS Mississippi and  2nd Infantry Division, Regular Army) of my grandfather in WW1, along with the flag from his coffin in 1938.  I also have my dad's uniforms from Korea.  My Grandfather's premature death and my father's disabilities are a result of military service - and a constant reminder of what those who serve our country may give.

USAF '92-'00.  Mostly in Intel.  Got out as an E-5.  I was a 2E271-Electronics, Computers and Switching Systems Tech.
My dad was drafted by the Army so he went to his AF recruiter and signed up.   He served 20 years in the AF then worked civil service for the Army at Ft. Lost-in-the-Woods, MO.
He retired from the AF when I was 3, so I grew up around the Army.  I saw the way the Army treated their people and decided, I preferred the AF.
SrA BTZ, E-5 second time, just missed E-6 before I got out.
Met my wife in Airman Leadership School.
Private sector paychecks and not wanting to deal with remote tour separating, we decided to both get out.  I do miss it though.  I really liked the close knit family of the military.
My last assignment was at Ft. Meade where in my shop was Army, Navy, AF and civilians.
My supervisor was Army.   I had to write my own EPR and draw a big "X" where I needed him to sign it.

Fort Meade was the place to go if you needed a General in a hurry. Never seen so much brass.
