Marines here
Was the 1st person in 10 generations NOT to join the navy... don't think my grandma was able to forgive me until I was sent off to war...
I was a Navy medic during the Vietnam War, and stationed with the 2nd Marine Air Wing. The medics out in the field with the Marines are actually sailors. They wear Marine Corps uniforms with Navy stripes.
One of the Marines in the statue of the Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima is actual a Navy medic.
Darrell
Navy Corpsman here!
But please don't call me a medic.
It's up to you if you want to go Marine Corps regs and wear the USMC charlies, but we wear cammies with our ranks and US NAVY on the pocket.
I've spent most of my career with the marines only been with the navy for 3 years out of 15 and I was on a ship called a gator frieghter to carry the marines.
HM1(FMF/SW/AW) Mark Chase
I recently switched to The NY Air National Guard from The Navy Reserves.
Marines all the way.
Darrell, the kilt is awesome by the way.
I'm over 6 ft tall, so by rights I had to be a Coastie. Besides I like their search and rescue mission.
If I could do it all over again, I would have loved to be a SEAL.
Ken
8 Marines and 24 other services... sorry guys, you're still out numbered and now you’re surrounded too!
