Fashion sense
« on: December 10, 2010, 03:15:54 PM »
I've been noting lately that argyle patterns are becoming popular again.  I wore a lot of argyle in the 80s, but it's not something I would wear now, partly because I don't wear sweaters at all anymore (I get too hot), but mainly I don't think that style goes well at all with a shaved head.  I didn't consciously change my style of dress when I started shaving my head, but I think I may have made some subtle changes without realizing it.  Did any of you start dressing differently after going sly?

No argyle or sweaters here, either.  For me, going sly brought me more in line with the way I was already dressing (jeans, boots, t-shirts most of the time) better than when I sported a bit of hair.

Absolutely. I bumped my wardrobe up a notch since going sly. I routinely get complimented on my attire at the office and elsewhere.

Oh, and yes, I have a red and grey argyle sleeveless sweater.

I haven't changed how I dress, it looks better in my opinion w/ a shaved rather than a "Harry Toiletseat" look.  Argyle--that's a strange trip to the past, because my father's sister was a devoted knitter-  and her sons, my bald cousins--always had "homemade" socks, argles.  Now of course I realise those were priceless in the sense that only the richest of the rich have hand knitted socks.  But then, as a young smart a$$ed kid, I felt sorry for them not having "store bought socks"!  An argyle sleeveless sweater and a camel hair sport coat here where I live are considered a very fashionable "winter" statement.  Hand knit, mind you well hand knit, is always good.  Machine made, synthetic fiber--not so hot.  Bald, it enhances what you wear, it it's clean, well fitted and you feel comfortable wearing it--but that's just this SBG's opinion.

Since shaving I've found myself dressing more formally.

My taste has changed over the years, but not specifically after going sly. Never liked argyle patterns.

Really the only change for me was that I stopped wearing ball caps to hide my head.  I once floored a balding friend(before he went SLY) when he walked into restaurant and I said..."I know why you wear a hat"

I still wear hats sometimes, but they are intentional to augment my outfit...not a cover-up anymore!!!
