razor cuts!

Hi, I shave my head every 3 days. I use warm water, shaving foam & a 3 blade razor. I shave it once over against the grain, wetting the razor after every stroke but have to repeat the process again as some stubble remains especially on the back of my head. I try to use as few strokes as I can but always find stubborn stubble in spots. I try not to press the razor down too hard but still after every shave I cut my head in a few places & it stings! Any advice please Bald Brothers?

Make sure to use an exfoliant before shaving to remove dead skin around the hairs that can clog your razor.  It also lifts the hairs to provide an easier, closer shave.  A lot of guys here use apricot scrub (myself included) and you can really tell a difference.  I wouldn't use it every day, but since you shave every 3 days you can probably use an exfoliant every time before shaving.

A fresh blade makes all the difference, too.

As an ATG shaver, I know what you mean about those stubborn spots on the back of your head where stubble likes to hide.
Bill has already given you some good advice, but I'd like to add something: Instead of trying to apply more pressure to the razor, try to get at the trouble spots by holding the razor at different angles. By that, I mean turning your wrist a bit so that the blade can approach those spots on a different level/angle. Extra pressure on a razor will always be your enemy.
I hope that all makes sense, because I'm finding it difficult to explain myself in this instance.

Thanx, I only use each blade twice also as I thought this would help but I see some guys here use their blades more times than once or twice.
Also what's the best way to get the top of the sideburn straight if you have a beard?

I have a line between the outer corner of my eye and part of the ear structure that I aim for.

I'll use a razor 4 or 5 times before changing.
I've heard that if you make sure to dry the blade(s) as much as possible after you're done shaving, the razor will last longer. It has seemed to work for me, but I don't know for sure if it's just a placebo effect or not...

Me, I shave it across. Back to front, which is against the grain for me. I try to go straight across from the side of the blade touching the tops of my ears. Honestly, it feels to me like I can never get it that straight either...

'Tis. Especially when you accidentally go too low on one, and then have to lower the other side to match, and so on and so forth 'til they're almost halfway down your ears!

If you want a realy close shave without the annoying trickey bits i would recomend the headblade sport this has got to be the weapon of choice for all those seeking a ultra close shave.

Howdy gents,  I was using the HB triple blades until recently when I ran out.  Had it down perfect-vroom vroom-quick and done within a few minutes and no cuts.

While waiting for the new order of triple blades to arrive, I have been using the double blades.  Sh*t! Cutting myself every damn time that I use it.  Has anyone else noticed a difference between the use of double and triple blades?

Yep, with the HB doubles I had to be extra cautious to avoid cutting myself . Triples are way better but expensive... so I switched to Wilkinson blades.
