Honestly, I'm terrified of using an electric razor on my head. I was given one as an x-mas gift few years back. It was the first time ever using one. It tore the crap out of my face. I know there's a period where you have to 'get used' to using one, but it was such an uncomfortable experience, I didn't bother with again it after 2 uses. I felt bad, because it wasn't a cheap model, but I was able to give it to someone else who has gotten plenty of use out of it.
I'd like to have that convenience when it comes to shaving the dome, but I don't want to invite the risk of that kind of discomfort and redness all over the top and back of my head. Kudos to those of you who can pull it off without issue. I'm stickin' to the blade, baby.

I got news for you, the electric is far better and easier on the head than it is on the face.  You will not get irritation on the head from an electric.  I had always gotten razor bumps from my old Mach 3, but not so much with my Linear shaver.

And the cost is way less.... not to mention , is a lot more convenient as well.

I will second that!

When I dropped my Fusion I was afraid to use my dad's old electric razor because it always give me skin irritation on my face. I did the job in 5/10 minutes and for my surprise I didn't got any irritation. It works with my skin.

Cheers!

Hello sir!

Yes you can, but usually it will last less if you compare with a blade. I mean, at the end of the day people will not be able to see any stubbles at all but you will feel it if you rub your head. It will be up to what electric razor you use, I found great reviews about Panasonic ES-LA93K and it seems it can give a similar cut to a blade, but it's a little expensive. In the long run you will save money. Also, a good thing is, if you have sensitive skin (like me), with an electric razor you can shave you head everyday.

But this is only my opinion, I found awkward to use a razor so I dropped it and went to electric, I will try to give it another shot during this weekend, but after doing some math I'm really not sure if I want to get used to razors... I mean, here where I live, the blades for the Fusion are expensive as hell, 30€ plus per pack!

Cheers!
Miguel

Hmm.. perhaps I should give it a try, then. It would especially be useful this time of year when being entirely slick isn't that important (at least when it gets as cold as it does here). You and Miguel have had good results, so maybe I will, too.
You couldn't be more right about the cost. 14 pack of disposable Mach 3s goes for $25 a pop. Expensive in the long run...  Thanks!

Now that I've been doing this for 6 months, I have to say, a blade is the closet, and, longest lasting shave, still.

I have a Conair Cleanhead, and it's not bad for days you're out of time or just don't want to hassle with water and cream, but it's a backup, mostly.  I don't regret buying it, but it's not my primary shaving method.
Also, it does tend to irritate the scalp a bit if you go over your skin enough times trying to get as close as possible, (trying to match the shave of a blade) and in the end, there's probably less irritation with a good blade.
Just don't use old/dull blades if you're trying a blade for the first time - a nice, new, sharp blade is a necessity, and also a breeze.
Hair today.. gone tomorrow!  (sorry)

When i first started shaving i used panasonic wet/dry electric shaver which irritated my skin, funny enough! i was trying to stay well away from razors, since i heard all those horror story about razor bumps etc.

A Bald friend of mine has recommended Wahl balding clippers but i dont know if i will be going there anytime soon.. they say it the closest shave you can get with electric shaver.

For the past 6 months, I have been buzzing my head with no guard which left me with visible stubble.  While cleaning out the bathroom closet two weeks ago week, I found my old Norelso triple head electric shaver.  It had not been used since 1978 when I grew my beard.  The Norelco was headed for the trash can when I decided to see if it still worked.  I plugged it in and it started running.  Since it was working, I decided to shave my head with it.  The Norelco gave me a close headshave .  My head felt like sandpaper, but there was no visible stubble and my head shined like glass.  I have used it every day for the past two weeks.  I bought a bottle of William's Lectric Shave Lotion and have been using it on my head.
