Hey everyone.

Hi everyone! Name is Pete, and I'm 29 in New York. I just discovered this forum this past week while looking up info on taking the plunge for the first time. Looks like a great site you guys have here. I've had a thinning hairline for a couple of years now, and am finally ready to do it I think. Been shaving my head with a #1 attachment for a while.
I've got sebhorric dermatitis and didn't want to go sly because of this. I read on this board and a couple others that going sly is often times a way to get rid of it completely. My case is very very mild compared to some others I have seen.
I don't want to go and post in the main forums yet posting a new topic yet, but want to ask a question here. Supposing I shave my head Friday, I already bought some Headslick and a Fusion. Just last week I gave myself a #1 with the clippers. On Friday should I use no guard and trim my hair down to nothing and shave after? My skin is pretty sensitive, and that seems like a surefire way to get irritated/bumps. My hair has not grown much since last week, and to be fair on the top and back don't have much left, so it shouldn't be an issue.
Thanks all for any input you can provide. I look forward to being with you for some time!

I suggest first trim your hair with #0 (no guard) then shower and shampoo.
Then follow by shaving WTG only for the first time , this should not stress your scalp to much.

Hi Pete. Welcome to the forum. As a follow up to Magoo's suggestion, immediately after you shave, dab your head with a small cloth (I use a baby wipe) soaked in Thayers Witch Hazel. Let it dry and then apply some Nivea Sensitive Skin After Shave Balm. This is a great treatment for sensitive skin and will cut down on potential irritation.

I did no guard then shaved after my first time. I have sensitive skin you might get a little irritation but just use some peroxide or witch hazel or something to clean up and it will get better each time you do it.

Hello Pete, welcome to the site.
I'm pretty sure the less hair you have, the less you have to worry about your razor blade getting clogged. I'm sorry to hear about your condition, hopefully shaving will help reduce your sebhorric dermatitis. If you can, get some Bald Guys moisturizer or some aloe vera, it takes a couple times shaving before your head gets used to it. You'll probably get some irritation, but the moisturizer/aloe vera will help sooth the irritation and help you heal up.
Again welcome to the site, believe me when I say you are in great company, if you ever need help or advice don't be afraid to ask. Enjoy your stay buddy
