I have a standard ol' Dell laptop that I use around the house for nothing more than internet access. We're currently in the market for a desktop unit for day to day home use. While browsing desktop units I got distracted by these NetBook gadgets. One of these would be perfect for my wireless interent usage around the house. Now comes the tough part: Which one? Price wise Acer and Asus are right on par with each other. Size....same thing. I like the screen on the Acer better than the Asus. However, I like the keyboard better on the Asus.
My question for y'all is which do you prefer and why? Thanks in advance for the feedback.
I have a Samsung N150 for 3 months now and I'm very happy with it. Not the fastest you can get, but good enough for web and email access. Playing a movie on a flatscreen TV also works well (at least in standard definition). The matte display is important to me, the good battery life and of course the price since it's an add-on to my desktop PC. Before I had the netbook I turned on my PC almost every day, but now it's only 1 or 2 times a week.
Asus, I love their gaming motherboards, they have EXCELLENT customer service and never hassle you when it comes to warranties.
Edit: I should also say that my girlfriend has an Asus netbook that she has had for 3 years, with no problems.
I don't know much about Acer, but my buddy gave a good review of Asus when I was asking him about what kind of new laptop I should get.
I have a 4 year old Dell, it's starting to run like crap and just shut-down and freeze up all the time (it's swan song).
So I asked my computer literate buddy, he said he got an Asus laptop for 700, it has an upgraded video card, it's 13.3 inch screened, and has a long (11hr) battery life and he's had it a year or two.
I wanted to get a mac so that I wouldn't ever have to worry about viruses, but they are just too expensive for me.
It felt really light compared to my hunker of a dell, and the long battery life appeals to me because for work I travel on planes (and trains and automobiles) alot and may not be able to plug in.
So I'm actually gonna go with that Asus, you can get it for maybe 600 without the video card, and maybe 800 for upgraded attributes.
