Nice!! Glad to meet you guys! I'm a local pro where I live trying to go nationwide, but lol yeah kinda harder than it looks. I need to converse with other creatives wether its professional or just shooting the breeze. So what do you both shoot?

I'm a professional amateur!  :*))  :*)) I don't foresee myself ever going pro but I do enjoy it when I get some good shots.
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

Mostly dabbling in fine-art photography at the moment, but want to get into portraiture and studio work, maybe even some stock or wedding photography at some point.  I want to get back into school and get my degree in photography so I can escape the computer industry. ;-)

Have a website with some of my stuff on it (a quasi portfolio of sorts), but have let it languish a bit - need to get back to that at some point.

Have done waaay too many self-portraits, but am still considering starting up another 365days projects in 2011.

OMG Crafty that's how I became a professional LOL!! I was a systems administrator for 3 years and was involved in a car accident where someone I was very close to died. He loved my personal work I did on film (back in the day) and made me promise no matter what I would try it at one point in my life. After he passed I picked up a digital camera and started from there. I went to school at IADT in Tampa FL, and never looked back. My website is www.kbromleyphoto.com check it out and let me know what you think. Also, send me your link, I'd love to check out your work.

Kyle - your work is *fantastic*!!

Mine aren't to the same caliber (yet *grin*), but here is the link - http://mcarvinphoto.blogspot.com.  More of a photoblog than actual portfolio, but it's a start ;-)

I'm also a wannabe/amateur, right now I shoot mostly my kids playing team sports and hot air balloons. This past Sunday just marked the final day of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which they say is the most photographed event in the world. Plenty of vibrant colors and great scenery if you use the mountains as a backdrop. Over a nine day event I shot anywhere between 150-300 frames a day. I wasn't 100% happy with all of them, but oh well.

Kyle and Mike, great work by you both. Awesome eye(s) both of you.

The problem with being a photographer is the same problem as being a poet.  There are thousands--millions!--of both (probably more who wield a camera than those who grasp a pen).  Anyone can take a picture; anyone can write write a poem (so they think).

I take photographs; I write, on occasion, a poem.  And what's the result?  Competence.  Good enough.  But "good enough" is not good enough.  I would say that "competence" in composing poems is harder than "competence" in taking photographs.  There is no "Poetshop" equivalent to Photoshop.  Photoshop can take one of my rather mediocre images and make it "good."  But...

Why is "good enough" not good enough when it comes to photography?  Because "excellence" is not rare, while excellent poems seem, to me rather thin on the ground.

BTW, your photos certainly are in the "excellent" category.  Standing out from the crowd of excellent photographs... well, that's the problem.

Hi Kyle

Yes, I'm a bit of a pro-dabbler.  Also do some professional printing on both canvas and a variety of papers.  Lots of fun!

Regards, Ken
