Can anyone tell me what this is?
« on: October 03, 2010, 01:12:28 PM »
These bumps seem to show up each time I shave I can't tell if they are pimples, razor burn, or something else

Hopefully someone can help.

What kind of razor and shaving gel/cream are you using?  Are you shaving with or against the grain?

I use a Mach 3 with barbasol. I shave with the grain then re-lather and then against the grain

You might want to try a different kind of shaving gel -- something hypoallergenic like Aveeno, for example.  And perhaps shave only with the grain until the problem clears up.

It looks like irritation, may be going against the grain may be too much for now. I found that after awhile my scalp adjusted to the shaving . Like Razor X said try WTG for awhile.

Yeah, I would try shower shaving, if you aren't already.  Like Razor said use at least a good Gel or better.  Let it heal up before you try again.  Use a new razor and use plenty of water.

Yes, it looks like irritations. I would try shaving under the Shower too, and i would use Shaving Cream, like Palmolive or Speick or what ever you use in the USA. I dont like the Gel or Foam out of the Can, it dosn't soften the Hair like real Soap. And i agree with Gambrinus, let it heal up...!! Good luck.

Maybe a shaving oil in combination with a shaving gel, and a shower shave vs a sink shave would help ease the irritation and your scalp can begin the process of healing. Finish it up with a product like HeadShed by HeadBlade or a product called Firefighter by Origins to again assist in healing with the irritation and get you on the road to repair.

And I AGREE with the these guys 100% when they say you ought to run as fast as you can away from that can foam. Man - that stuff is murder on the scalp.

Problems here too. I get a head full of tiny spots a couple of days after shaving. It's almost like skin colored stubble. I sure can get rid of it, shaving it off and treating t with disinfectant. But... it comes back. I doesnet hurt or anything, just looks stupid. I could possibly have a picture linked, but I may be too gross...

Do you know anything about this? Some points: I use clean razors, lather well, wash up well... all of that.

You don't say if you shave WTG or ATG , they could be  ingrown hairs caused by shaving ATG.

or it could be dead skin cells from lack of exfoliation. i shave WTG hen use a good scrub followed by a ATG shave. then a bump fighter to close the pores followed by more skin moisture products

I have a condition called polymorphous light eruption. Basically i'm allergic to the sun. I have to use a uva/uvb sunscreen or i break out in bumps that look just like that.
