New to Board. Hello!
« on: September 28, 2010, 07:04:22 AM »
Hello Bald Guys!
I am Dave, I am 33 and have been buzzing my hair for the past 15 years.  I am not losing it, I just can't stand having it.  I would generally try to buzz myself every week, 2 weeks the most.
After a long time of wanting t do it, Sunday I decided that on Monday I would go totaly bald.  I watched some videos on youtube, and checked out the Headblade web site.  Yesterday (monday) morning I dropped my kids off and was waiting at the Door of Rite Aid for them to open at 8:00.  I bought the head blade, head slick and the spf 30 lube (that is all they had).  WhenI got home, even though I wanted to shave my head I felt myself procrastinating.  I finally did it.  Buzzed my hair took a shower, then shaved the rest off.  I shaved once, rinsed, then did it again.  Since it was the first time, I didn't worry about the few places I could feel stubble.  I couldn't see it.  Suprisingly, today I do not have any bumps, or razor rash.  Now, I love it!
Are there any must have products you guys can suggest to me?  I want to order the head shed and the head wash, anything else I should get?
Thanks!  Now I am going to look around a bit!

Welsome to SBG Dave!
I would reccomend using a head/face scrub. A lot of the guys in here like St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Also, I would recommend BaldGuyz Moisture Gel.

Thanks for recomendations guys!  I ended up ordering from Headblade, and I could not get the banner to work that says save 20%.
I ordered the goold kit which I think comes with almost everything they offer plus another headblade razor and a grooming kit.
Their head shed is an exfoliator which I'm guessing is a scrub, and I got their matte finish lube/lotion.  More head slick (i love this stuff) the clear head and the wipes.

My next question, I shaved my head again today, this time in the shower.  It was easier to do since I just shaved yesterday, and this time didn't have nearly as much hair.  But there are some spots that I still feel stubble.  No matter how many times I went over them.  I can feel can feel stubble, but can't see anything.  Could the blades be dull already?  Yesterday was the first use, but I shaved from a buzzed head, not a bald head.  How often do you guys change your blades?  I guess it will be less now that I am bald.
Thanks again!

Welcome to the forum, Dave. Glad you could join us!  O0

You'll soon figure out how to deal with the spots that seem to avoid the blade. You'll probably find that you need to attack those areas from a different direction as you work out which way the hair grows there. On my head there is an area where the hair seems to grow in a spiral pattern so I have to draw the blade across that area from all directions to get a totally smooth result.

As for how long a blade will last, everyone has different results there as we all have different types of hair, differing amounts of hair, and different blades and shaving routines. My blades are good for three shaves, maybe four tops. Other guys get way more than that.

Dave,

First of all, Welcome to SBG.

Many of us here are "shower shavers". I highly recommend you getting one of those little, cheap hand-held mirrors (found just about everywhere) that you can use as a visual aid while shaving in the shower. They may be inexpensive, but imo, worth their weight in gold when shaving the sides and the top of your head, regardless if you're using the HeadBlade, or one of the more traditional name brand razors.

Nothing worse than attempting to shave your melon when you can't really see what your doing!

Shaving once or twice daily, your Headblade blades should begin to dull and need changing about every 5-7 days (give or take). I am sure some of the other members will post their thoughts on their own personal experience with the HeadBlade, as they login and see your post.

As fas as the "Best" product to use for shaving your noggin, sometimes what works for some members, may not necessarily work for another. Search through the main forum page and you will see feedback on a a large percentage of the products available.

Some members are fortunate to find that ideal product the first time they choose a product, others like to experiment a bit, to see what product (or combination thereof) gives them the closest shave possible.

If you have have any questions, feel free to either check out the FAQ section on the forum, or post your question on the board, and you'll find that the guys here will do their best get you an answer!

Once again, Welcome to the SBG forum. Glad you found us.

Welcome, Dave!
There are loads of tips and product suggestions in the Head Shaving section.
I guess everyone has some "difficult" spots on their noggin. With time you'll find out how to accomplish the smoothness you're after. It only gets better! 8)

Welcome Dave. In time you'll nail down your routine.
In the meantime, there's plenty to try and it will be trial and error. Check out the headshaving sections for tips which may save you some time, and more importantly, money. You can weed out what will work, and what is just plain nonsense.
Good luck with the shaving.
