Starting Week 2
« on: September 21, 2010, 12:40:39 PM »
I shaved front to back today and it worked out fine. No cuts or irritation - WOO HOO! That turns out to be ATG on top of the dome, perpendicular to the grain (PTG?) on the sides and WTG on the back. Slapped a little Bump Patrol on there too which had a noticeable effect within an hour. The fresh blade on the HB was great also. With my hair type, I have a feeling I'm going to be changing blades more often than some. A HeadBlade bulk pack would be just the ticket.

Hi junglephone,

Glad to hear the irritation is gone!  I had problems with the HB Sport triple blades that came with it.  They clogged much too easily.  I recommend trying out any of the double blades that are compatible with the HB.

I see you're a multifaceted musician.  Nice!  What kind of music do you play mostly?

Thanks, I'll check out some doubles. My head still looks like a pepperoni pizza but the bumps don't look nearly as angry as they did two days ago. Just gotta get through this break-in period. Totally committed to the Slyness.

As for music, I cut my teeth as a funk/r&b and jazz drummer, but I've listened to just about everything. These days, I'm playing everything from funk and hip hop to roots rock to electronica and singer-songwriter folky stuff. I just like to lay down a nice pocket; it's what I get hired for. I was on a country recording session last night and had a ball! The songwriting was great and the players were badasses. Bottom line, I can appreciate just about anything that's done well.

How about you, Bass Brother?

Not only is it a virtue, but it's often the key to survival! Thanks for the support, BWB.

Same as above.  I appreciate any style of music; my tastes are pretty eclectic.  Rock of any type, country, swing, bossa nova, hip hop, etc.

I've been playing bass for about 12 years now.  I started playing in high school with a hard rock/metal band.  Although that group dissolved, I still play with the singer today in a singer-songwriter based band.  It's hard to place our type of music.  If I had to label it I'd call it alt-country.  It's mostly country based with some rock and pop elements.

Check out this up and coming rock band from Nashville, TN called Throwing Gravity.  The guitarist and drummer are from my band in high school and they are both musical prodigies in my eyes.  They're getting close to their big break.  You can find them on Myspace and Facebook.

I play with Eric Dodd.  You can find our two full length albums on CDBaby and iTunes.  We recently released two new songs (produced by aforementioned guitarist and drummer) and they're also on iTunes.  Find us on Facebook and Myspace.
