I have not shaved with a blade yet and if I ever do, I will need to deal with a decent sized mole on my head. - think my electric can get around this pretty good but it might be a good idea to get it removed. Can anyone relate?

I would get it removed as it's a pain to work around when shaving unless it's flat, but I doubt that's the case since you're asking. It will take about a week or two before the skin is healed and you can shave the area, although may be a little sensitive so be gentle the first few weeks.

I have two that I have to shave around--one on the back of my head and one in the upper sideburn area--but my insurance won't pay for removing them unless there's some medical reason to do so, and I doubt that "I prefer being bald" will be an acceptable reason.   ;D

That said, I'm having my dermatologist look at them in a couple of weeks, and in the meantime I just shave around them as close as I can with the blade and then clean up whatever's left with a small foil shaver attachment that came with my beard trimmer.  Works okay, although it would sure be simpler without them.

Next time you see a dermatologist or your general practioner, ask him if he'll check w/ your insurer to be sure--depends on the company.  If they had removed or agreed to remove one I had in the 1990's, they would have saved a bundle--it turned to squamous cell skin cancer after Katrina and they had to do a Mohs procedure--that's about $5000.

The older I get the more crap my body decides to grow on my skin... sun spots moles weird spots that are sensitive like a raw nerve.  I let the Dr. whack 'em off or burn them off and biopsy if she thinks it's needed.  No sense in suffering with moles or skin growths in this day and age!  Git 'er dun!  O0

Hey Guys!
I'm new to the forums, and I guess i should post to the intro thread... In the mean time, I wanted to share that I just got a big sucker of a mole removed from the back of my head a couple days ago.  I've got a few stitches back there and won't be able to shave for a while  >:(  I'm curious if anyone else has had to shave around stitches.  How possible is it to do that, or should I maybe just wait till they're taken out??  Thanks for any advice you can give.

Yup, been there, done that and got the t-shirt!  :*))

When I would shave I'd just keep a thumb over the stitches and go around my thumb... it worked fine.  i could use my electric very carefully to get closer to the incision, just don't get too close.  O0
