I love my country and my fellow Americans I know you love your country too! But Seriously this country is going in the wrong direction, I am a child of the 80's so I remember when things were "normal" in America. ie, the economy, the job market, crooked politicians, outsourcing of jobs, oil leaks on our shores, even the weather seems to be f'ed up. Whats happening here guys? lol
The US Empire is crumbling?
i blame an over controlling government system that over tries to care to much and treats us like like. Example "No you can't have that it might kill you." mind you the word might we are all adult minus those of use who have kids. i say leave the parenting to the parents and let us have what we damm well please so long has we are informed of the maybe's.
Agree with lordmage. It's called natural selection!!

But I must add that the total take-over by PC, "you hurt my feelings-give it to me, I deserve it" mentality of people. Step up, shut up and pull yourself together!!
Political correctness has almost paralyzed this country in my opinion. People are afraid to say anything out of fear of being sued, shunned or worse. People are way to sensitive; intolerant of and unwilling to hear anyone's view or opinion other than their own. I call it the "It's only free speech if I agree with it" syndrome.
GASlick nailed it, and it's too late to fix it. We are all doomed!
Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights.
If it makes you feel any better, the UK is in the same boat, if not worse!
A child of the 80s??? LOL, I have socks older than you. Reminds me, I need to do some laundry.
As GAslick alluded to, we have become a nation of wimps and whiners, dependent upon the Nanny-State for our very sustenance. Because of this ever-increasing malaise, which in my not-so-humble-opinion had its genesis back in the '60s or perhaps even in the New Deal era, we now have in power in this country the most radical, left-wing, socialist Administration in history. This country also seems to have a mindset that everybody else is right and we are wrong. The PC concept of multiculturalism is a perfect example. Diversity can accomplish nothing. This country needs to get back to unity. The motto on our money says 'E Pluribus Unum'. Out of many, one. Or at least it used to.
It occurs to me that this sort of thing is a symptom of a greater malady in our society today. We're so afraid of stepping on someone's toes, of offending their sensibilities, of violating their cultural or religious beliefs that we now find it more compelling to suspend our own beliefs and traditions in order to accommodate the wackos on the fringes of our society. We now acquiesce to the shrill minority of fanatical lunatics embodied by the likes of the ACLU, PETA and those crackpots from Westboro Baptist Church and allow them to subjugate the rest of us.
This country needs to get back to the bootstrap mentality of our Founding Fathers. As Earl Pitts would say, "Wake up, America!"

OK, I'm backing slowly away from the soapbox now.
You are correct, Ambassador, the UK is in worse shape. I don't want my country going any further in that direction. No offense but if I wanted to be like the Europeans, I'd go live there.
Cheers.

BikerDave!!
Our founding fathers are surely rolling over in their graves. We are slowly becoming everything that they were escaping. The federal government was never intended to "rule" only to moderate the states as needed.
The other substantial problem we have is career politicians. If you think for one second that the people we elect are looking out for us, then you really aren't paying attention at all! They are on a power trip and only working to preserve their own power and status. I think congress should not be paid, serve two terms max then never be allowed to hold the office again.
If you or I don't do our jobs well, we get fired. But for some reason that is beyond all comprehension, we keep electing the same self serving, ego maniacs over and over and over again. I don't get it.
Roger that, GAslick. Here's to ya! (clink)

No offence taken. But I didnt ask you to come live here

I have no intention of doing so, Ambassador. I was alluding to the fact that some in our leftist government point to Europe as the model for America, to which I say, emphatically,
PTUI!!!
Cheers.
