One word - confidence

A short and sweet message to all of you on the fence. Making the decision to shave your head is all about confidence. When i was losing my hair and when I wore a hairpiece the common personality "flaw" that I had was that I lacked confidence. I let society get to me. I let the infomercials get to me. I took the slings and arrows from people commenting about how much hair I had lost and turned that into a ridiculous action of spending tens of thousands of dollars on hair pieces. All in an attempt to boost my confidence. Thanks to everyone on this message board I have my confidence back and its stronger than its ever been in my entire adult life.
For anyone out there worried about what you'll look like, what other people will say, fearing rejection, fearing stares and ridicule - just step back and stop the chatter going on in your mind. The transition - while a shock - isn't nearly as bad as the energy we expend worrying about it. I know that personally after the 30 days was up my confidence level went through the roof. My sales are up, I cleaned up a few messes in my life, I'm walking with confidence, talking with confidence, and met an incredible woman who I guarantee wouldn't have been interested in me in the pre-sly state of lacking confidence.
Take control. Give it up. Read the stories of redemption by 99% of the guys on this message board. Take the step. I guarantee you that people will either not comment at all or will only give you positive praise for what you've done. Its all about confidence. If you need a confidence boost pick up the clippers and take care of it. I guarantee you'll be glad you did.

That's really a wonderful post. I had no idea that hairpieces costed tens of thousands of dollars! They don't even l
I hope this isn't ignorant, but I wonder, why not wear a wig instead of an expensive hairpiece? I think wigs are funner looking and you can change your hair type at will. I have some wigs for some Halloween costumes that looked real when I dressed up as an emo kid.

Awesome post. I wish I could have read it many years ago before going through such grief trying to deny my genetics, instead of embracing them.

FYI -- for those that missed my earlier posts -- I was up to $750 per MONTH at the hair club. They just kept laying it on that I had to upgrade or people would notice. They're experts at playing the emotional side. "You would spend that much on a luxury car - why not spend it on yourself to make yourself more attractive?" Makes a bottle of headslick and a pack of HB triples seem pretty cheap!

I agree! There should be a section of "required reading" for lurkers and fencers with a compilation of posts like this one.
Excellent post and nice new profile pic pdxtodd!
