Brothers-
Thank you for your Prayers for Neil and his Family. Here is an update for those that are interested.
Finally, yesterday afternoon, the doctors upgraded his status to "stable". This doesn't mean he is out of the woods yet. Until he makes it thru Thursday or Friday there is still a chance he could die. He is however MUCH improved considering the circumstances and we are all hopeful.
The doctors told his brother that he should have died at least three times over the course of the weekend. He's a small man..... about 5 foot 7 and if he weighs 160 pounds I would be shocked. He apparently has the heart of a lion.
Even though he was heavily medicated on Saturday evening and not awake, they took his two sons in to talk to him. Neil's brother explained to the boys that he could hear them even though he was asleep. So the boys sat with him and told him how much they loved and needed him.
Then after a bad night, Sunday morning came, another surgery was performed to stop some internal bleeding that the doctors initially had trouble finding, and he took a pretty dramatic turn for the better.
I spoke to Neil's brother Terri last night. Terri is my best Friend so he pretty much laid it all out there for me. Terri's spirits were high and hopeful when I spoke to him. We continue to Pray.....
I and some others in our town are starting to put together some ideas for fundraisers to help the Family. Neil and Stacy lived on a very tight budget before this so this will be devastating for them financially. Currently we are trying to put together a youth wrestling tournament, I'm hoping the youth football program will do a fundraiser, and I'm going to arrange a Poker Run for October.
Please Friends...... continue to keep Neil and the entire Shriner Family in your Prayers.
