New here... first post! 25 yrs old.. been losing my hair (both crown and hairline) probably since a few months after my 21st birthday... been hiding behind a hat probably since I was 23... for the last year I have basically slept with a hat on.. not even taking it off around family, friends, etc.. long story short I shaved my head as close as I could without completely bickin it.. to my surpise I have a pretty nice shaped head but I'm not completely happy with it. It's been about 5 days and I've gotten some mixed reviews... my hair (I have left) is growing back really fast... I kinda like the length it is now.. maybe about a 1/2 inch? but you can barely see any hair in front where my hairline should be.. I did have some front (hairline) hair when I shaved it but not much.. I was definetely developing the island look. I was hoping you could see more stubble where my hairline should be but nada.. I am hesitant to completely shave it (with a razor)... I've gotten a couple.. "you look like a skinhead" comments that have really bothered me. Also a couple "keep your hat on". I am still wearing hats around... I do look good in hats and even when/if I become comfortable with the look I will probably continue to wear hats.
It seems like most of the regs on this forum are middle aged married men... what do you guys have to worry about!!
I'm attaching a pic of my new self! Any advice on the facial hair or anything else please don't hesitate

The look suits you dude. Skip the hats every few days...get used to the look. As far as us middle aged men...its not that we dont have anything to worry about....its just that we have quit worrying.
Self-confidence and you being happywith how you look is key......let the rest be along for the ride or be damned!!

Dude you look great. I would ditch the hats altogether. The tight buzz looks good, as would completely slick, but you have nothing to worry about. You are a natural. Now you know if girls approach you, they don't care about hair, or better yet, they are turned on by slick, confident guys. Welcome aboard.

Dude - its looks really good on you. I have a full head of hair and have choosen to go sly. definatly have not regretted it. Try shaving it completely - you wont believe how good it feels/looks. You definatly have the head to carry the look with confidence!!

The island is just another way of saying "two hairlines" one nearer the front, one over the ears. Not a good look. A skinhead has issues below the scalp, sly is a statement about yourself. What's beneath the scalp is a totally different issue. The picture looks good, and if you do the blade, [reccomended highly] you'll discover how great a totally smooth dome can feel.
Your head looks fine, but of course we've never seen you with hair have we. And, everyone you meet from here on out, assuming you're going to shave it, will be meeting the same sly dude we just met. Looks good, try it for thirty days, it's addictive. -

Definitly shave it man!Will look great on you!You should try and rock a beard with the bald head.Looks like you could pull it off well!Like people said,try it out for thirty days and you probably won't ever turn back!

hey thanks guys... very surprised how active these forums are... even got a couple of personal messages... very cool. It's nice to relate to people who went through (or are going through) the samething and speak from experience. Out of all my friends I'm the only one who suffers from MPB.. at least severly anyways so I have no one to really talk to that can relate.
Everyday I get more comfortable with the look and I know for certain I look better than I did before. Still not rdy to rock it sly yet but I'm taking off the hats more... baby steps right? It's been almost a week and I havent touched it yet.. I still think it looks pretty good, even it being a little longer, but definitely won't let it get any longer.
ALSO: I think I got the sarcasm but just to clarify by no way am I skinhead... I hope you understood what I meant.. pretty sure you did
