Hey Rudy, I am a new member myself and making the transition this week. My post is Opinions Plzzzz in To be or not to be...Bald if you would like to check my post and progress. I will also be happy to send you my first pic, since I'm at pic 2 now. I just turned 40 but also have hid under a hat for many years. I started losing my hair slowly at about age 24. The bigest realization came to me when I was standing in line at Walmart for the customer service desk and looked up at the black and white TV of the security camera. I saw a balding guy standing there holding his kids hand and said to myself, boy that guy has a big bald spot on his head..glad its not me. At that moment the kid turned to the man and looked up at him... it was my kid!!! I wish this site existed 12 years ago, I would be a Sly-Pro by now. Anyway, I hope my post can help you out in some way, I will be updating it with my Sly look next week. Just remember there is only 1 you, accept what you have but control/decide what to do with it.

Ruddy,

I can't add much new to what's already been said, but here goes.  It does take a lot of guts because of all the uncertainty -- the shape of your head; what is everyone going to say; is it really me.  I would recommend buzzing shorter and shorter... it just adds to the excitement of the BIG day and also gets you prepared to know how you're going to look.  I would start now, so by the time summer rolls around, all you'll have on your head is some good sunscreen.  Once you do 'THE DEED' and get over the initial shock, you will feel like an enormous weight has been lifted, and you will rid yourself of all this angst you're putting yourself through.  Today is the perfect time to be bald as it has become so mainstream.  Another great thing is that as you meet new people, they will never know the not-so-confident old you, but only the cool, slick, new you.  You'll also never have another bad hair day.  ;)
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Ruddy, hasn't even been a week since my first head shave. Can't say I'm in the exact same situation but I recommend giving it a shot. I mean, hair is hair.

About the shape of your head, you've been looking at it with hair on it for so long that you just weren't used to it being buzzed. I'm sure its all good. Once it's all off then you don't got to see balding as  bad thing, but it just meaning your blades you shave your head with will last longer.

Good luck with whatever you do, but don't spend too much time worrying about your hair. With or without you'll be the same person. Do Eeeeeet!
