Best Razor For Sensitive Head

So I had to find out the hard way that my head is a lot more sensitive than my face.  I tried using a cheap disposable, but that left me with an extremely irritated head, with many ingrown hairs, and nicks and cuts. 

Im extremely cheap(and broke), and dont wanna spend money testing multiple razors out. 

So please help me out fellas, let me know which razor has been the gentlest to your head.

hey kpeezy:  btw... welcome 2 the sly fraternity.  U might also want 2 try the SCHICK hydro5 razor.  it is very gentle on the dome and it glides smoothly on the dome.  U can purchase a hydro 5 razor for about $8.oo at walmart and it's 4 refill cartridges cost  $10.94.

So far the Mach 3 hasn't let me down.  I think the key is shave prep, a good foam, and going gentle with the strokes.

i think anything along the lines of a schick hydro or gillette mach 3 or above would help you out bro. it's gotta be the cheap disposables that are the issue for the sensitive skin.

Although I had to get used to the ergonomics of the Schick Hydro i think you should try it, first off the cost of initially buying it maybe pricey, however I have used the same blade for a month now.  What makes it really special is that there are moisturizers built into the razor, also its a safe razer you can press hard and you usually do not cut or nick your self.  Plus the slide away moisturizer area folds out to get those tricky places like under the nose or shaping your goatee or around the ears.  I was really impressed, I think its now far superior to the fusion even the new fusion pro glide which tends to drag and pull my hair and I have to keep adding water to moisturize, not to mention the big company is nickle and diming you.

If you notice, the common denominator of most of the razors mentioned is where the cartridge is attached at the bottom to the handle. The two biggest causes of razor burn are too much pressure and not enough lubrication.  I agree that the Mach3 is the best out of all these razors.  If you are looking for bang for your buck, you need an M5 (or a Safety Razor, but that's a different rant).  Also don't push on the razor and TAKE YOUR TIME.  Those cheap disposables have the handle attached to the back which amplifies how much pressure you put on the handle, plus the blades are just out right inferior.  Any of the blades suggested will be great, but if you don't evaluate your technique your still sunk.  So I would review your Prep and Technique as well as your Tool.  Most people I know that have "Sensitive Skin" really need a good ol lesson from Dad on how to shave.  It's not blowing your nose.  It's dragging a surgically sharp piece of metal across your face.  I also would advise multiple passes (rinse and relather between passes)  Don't try to mow it down all at once.  I do at least three passes (WTG, ATG and Touch up) on a quick shave.  Hope this helps

Also, irritation from disposables being a given, the M5, Fusion or the new one are all fine.  But, preparation is essential, and put some baby oil on the dome before the lather--more lubrication.  And then clean up after with hydrogen peroxide or witch hazel and a non-oily after shave balm, a little goes a long way so it isn't expensive seen in the big picture.  Also, wash that melon, keeping it clean keeps it clear.

Im leaning towards trying out the Mach 3 first since it seems to be pretty popular on this site.

However, I have to wonder if the Sensor Excel would be a 'gentler' option to the Mach 3 since it only has 2 blades as opposed to 3.  Has anyone tried both?

This "however" business is just inertia, shave it, live the sly life, everything will even out.
