One Liners
« on: July 15, 2010, 07:20:34 AM »
For men, no other decision about what hairstyle seems to draw as much attention as choosing to go Sly.

I work out of the office doing copier, fax, and printer repairs so I don't see my co workers that often, Each time I run into a friend or acquaintance that have not seen the New Sly look, they want to know what happened and why I went Sly.

I am looking for some funny ways to respond to such inquiries, sort of an ice breaker to the question. Please give me your most creative response you can think up, or may have used in your own interactions with non-Sly Guys.  ;D

One of the best I have seen or heard was in response to a post I made early on, I had one comment, I believe it was only one, "Cancer?"  That's tough because the person asking it may have a friend or relative who has lost their hair to chemo--so a sophisticated light touch is necessary.
The response suggested, although I never got to use it directly--only talk about it--was, "No, [name of zodiac birth sign] actually!"

Well if a guy with thinning hair asks you could respond......

Both excellent responses. I think I'll have to practice the Cancer one in the mirror, not sure if I can pull that one off. :)

Robmeister posted these links in an earlier thread this year on this very topic. Some classics here!  :*))

For men, no other decision about what hairstyle seems to draw as much attention as choosing to go Sly.

A thought comes to mind.  After most everyone you've known "Pre-Sly" has ceased commenting, and that happens pretty fast, you'll also get questions, generally from guys you know that are "losing it."  They never seem to be able to say, "I want to do it, how?"  They circle around the subject in more imaginative ways than you'll ever imagine, but generally they ask these questions one on one.  You'll need to have answers and questions for this too.  Most recently I was lateraling off a job assignment to another guy so I could move on to my current project.  He had a horseshoe, buzzed about a #3.  So he starts asking about the noggin, and so I asked why he didn't ditch the Bozo Ring.  He had the usual wife thing and didn't know if he would like the look or care to shave everyday.  Then the bingo answer came out when I asked a question that's been bugging me, when and how long until you don't have stragglers on the top.  His answer, and my avenue to move him on, "Still have them, have to clean it up every other day or two!"  Well, That led the conversation on to how and when to clean it up since it was only finishing what he was already doing.
So get ready to handle those guys, help them over the hump to freedom.  The comments why I did it are long gone, unless they're part of the conversation from a guy who's thinking of coming on board the Sly Life.

To agree with what saint said. I know this guy who just turned 21 and I never noticed until recently becuz he keeps it buzzed, but the temples are receded and his crown is getting thinner. Mind you he's pry a norwood 3 so most people still would be to blind to notice. One day tho we were hangin out and he was asking me what I use to shave my head if you can just use any old single bladed razor or what not, so I won't be to suprised if I see him in the future sporting the look.
The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the Past better than it was,
the Present worse than it is & the future less resolved than it will be.

I think I am going to say that I shaved for religious reasons and I can only discuss information about the religion with other Sly Guys. If the ask me what Sly Guys are, I will hand them a piece of paper with the web address to this forum, lol.

Nice one. I just have to convince everyone that knows me that I have been wearing a rug before being Sly, lol.

My experience has been just the opposite.  When I went sly, people STOPPED commenting about my hair.
