We often pay homage on Memorial Day to those brave warriors to gave up their lives so that each of us can enjoy the freedoms that we have in this great country.   We also honor those who have fought on Veterans Day - but for me the 4th of July is also an important holiday to remember those who are currently deployed or who have served in the past - for without you and your sacrifices - we wouldn't have anything to celebrate on the 4th.   I know we have SBG members who are currently deployed - and I thank you for spending your 4th fighting for our country - and I thank those of you who are here back at home enjoying the holiday with your friends and family.    Even though I don't agree with much of what's going on in our country right now - I do agree that its still the greatest place on the planet.

For SBG members outside of the US - if you're ever planning a trip here - the 4th of July is an absolutely amazing day.

Oorah,  Hooah, Hooyah to all my brothers in the military.

Todd

Bravo to all you past and present members of our Military for your service. As I've stated on here before.... I never served but my Dad did and my Uncle Ron was a Green Beret in Vietnam.

To all you special men and women that serve and have served..... Thank You from the greatest country in the world!

Well put Todd!

For too many folks in this country the 4th of July has simply become a day for blowing stuff up and drinking beer. For those of you who have children, the 4th of July is a great day to tell them about the tremendous sacrifices our founding father's made for all of us who are here enjoying the freedom they died for.

God Bless America and God Bless the troops!

I just found out a few minutes ago that the older gentleman camping across from us was awarded a bronze star during his service. My son and I will be introducing ourselves later and I'm sure my son will thank him for his service. Being from a Family with a military service history, my son is well aware of what these men have done for us.

One of my biggest regrets is the fact that I did not serve in the military.

God Bless our troops.

To my fellow brothers and sisters serving in the military and to those who have served - HOOAH!  Thank you for your service!
For those of you who have not served, but recognize the price of freedom, I thank you for recognizing that freedom is not free, as you appreciate and enjoy the blessings of liberty; especially on this Independence Day.

The same goes for Memorial day, Veterans day and any other day that honors the sacrifices that individuals made.

It's a damn shame.

I recently read "1776" by Robert McCullough.

I highly recommend it! Excellent account of our fight for freedom.  Get it and read it!

I'll add to those who wished they had served as well, like schro and hawkman, I regret not having done that.
That said, I have deep respect for anyone who has served in any of our great forces. Having five Uncles serve in the Army in WWII, and losing one there. To me that is an ultimate sacrifice for our country, and I Thank All who have served, and those who continue to serve and protect our freedom's.   O0
