burned my scalp ... ouch
« on: June 15, 2010, 06:59:45 AM »
Hi guys,

well, I usually put suncreme on my head, but on sunday I forgot.

I went to a flea market, which i thought would be indoors in a markethall.
It was not that warm, but the sun was out, and the market was mostly outside these halls and it was huge.
So it took a long time to walk over it, and i didn't notice anything when I was there, but now ... unfortunately ... I do.

Burned my scalp ... well, I guess that can happend sometimes.
Never had that before, since I haven't been bald for so long, and usually protect my scalp.

Any advice?

Try and get your hands on some Aloe Vera. The more pure, the better. Then lather it on. This will not only help alleviate the discomfort, but will aid in, and speed up, the healing process.

As Ozzie said, Aloe vera...... or an after sun product that contains lidocaine.

Thank you guys for the advice.

But I think it is allready to late for aloe - the irritation is basically gone already and the skin is coming of.

So I shaved it again just now, to get the dead skin off.

Have a nice day. ;-)

I try to use sunscreen but don't like to overdo it. A bandana is always in my pocket just in case i need it.

Sometier, I trust you're doing better.  I'm partial to sunscreen AND the ball cap, because it tends to keep the sun from getting in my eyes sometimes even when wearing sunglasses.  I'm getting away from the ball cap more and more, as I develop a trust in the sun screen.   O0

I too have had a bit of redness lately.   It is my own fault as I am trying to even out my color.  It is tricky to get some sun to tan, but not too much to burn.   Anyway, does anyone else ever find that now that they are sly that too much sun makes them feel light headed?  There have been a few times where I feel like I am going to fall on my ass if I don't get out of the sun.

Hi guys,

my scalp seems to be okay now - no more rednes, or irritation and no more shedding of skin. ;-)
Put some good old german "nivea" on it.

If I am going to be outdoors for an extended period of time, I wear a hat or use sunscreen. I do alot of swimming in the summer, so I opt for the sunscreen.

Sun screen is my choice. I've taken to carrying a bandana to tie on when I'm in the sun for extended periods.
