Bragging on the Kids or Pets
« on: March 28, 2007, 09:00:08 PM »
I was on another thread and got to talking about pets. I just wanted to know if you guys had any Pets or kid storys you wanted to post....I know this is kinda girlie, but I love to hear stories about how you came up with that name of your pet, or something funny your son or daughter did the other day.

Paulie....I know your son comes up with some stuff....just look who his father is!!!

Here's a couple links to prior posts about my 160 lbs of puppy - They're great with the kids

It's funny to see my 37 lb four-year-old son ordering these 80 lb pups to sit and go into their kennel.

My kids (Nicole 8, Alex 6) are non-stop, as is my dog. Kids both into tae kwon do, softball/baseball, soccer, and trying to get homework done. Couldn't have been luckier. Great pic of my daughter with one of the Raider Nation on my Myspace page. Go check it out.

My wife and I have 2 cats.  Shadow(male), and Misty(female).  We have had them since we've been married in 2000.  As you have seen from my forum pic we also have a son.  His name is Chase.  That pic on the forum is old.  I have a few in the gallery that are more recent.  He just turned 1 year old on the 19th of this month (March).  He's my buddy.  He's actually a blessing to us both for different reasons.  I don't really have funny stories about him yet except the cute little things he does from day to day since he's only 1.  But I'm sure as he grows he will give me plenty to talk about.  Sort of off the subject of funny stories, I do have a story about how he helped change my life for the better.  I had worked at a steel company busting my a$$ for about 8 years before he was born.  It was sort of a roller coaster from the beginning because on the day he was born he was breech.  Then he was coming along too fast so they had to do an emergency c-section on my wife which meant I couldn't go back there with them.  We thought everything was okay after that but then on the day we were suppose to go home, the third day, they came to us to tell us he had stopped breathing in the middle of the night and turned blue.  Of course we freaked out but he had recovered and was doing better.  They had moved him to the "Special Care Unit" just in case and had a respirator on him to help him breath if needed.  They were never really sure what happened to him.  They think it may have been a bad case of reflux and he may have choked on his milk but they weren't sure.  My company was only letting me have 2 or 3 days off to be with my wife.  After I let them know about the new condition they offered to give me about another week off.  After a week my son was able to come home but he had to come home on a breathing monitor which would alarm if he stopped breathing.  My wife wanted me home with her longer since she was having a hard time recovering and she wouldn't be able to take care of our son like she wanted.  I explained this to my job but they didn't want to hear it.  They wanted me back right away.  I had done everything for this company.  In the shop as well as in the office.  After discussing with my wife I resigned from the job to take full care of our son.  After my wife recovered she went back to work.  Since I had all the extra time on my hands...Well as much time as I can have taking care of a child...I decided to give the fire department a try that I had been putting off for so many years.  Now here I am getting closer to my dream of having a job that I really want and one that I now I will get something out of everyday.  It probably wouldn't have ever happened without my little blessing coming along to give me that final push out of my old job that I needed.

Due to the fact that my better half is alergic to anything with four legs we only have fish.  Four goldfish that are in two separate bowls only inches apart but by virtue of a wall have no idea the others exist!

They are called Derek and Dave (named after two batty 70 year old security guards at work), and Father Ted and Dougal (named after a hilarious Irish comedy programme about priests).

I have no kids yet, although we have one due in exactly ten weeks and counting so will have to tell you why we decided on the name of that one when it happens!

Hey Argyle, how about Yul or Telly (Savalas) for a boy or Sinead or Demi for a girl? Or, is that taking the whole SLY thing a bit too far?  :-\

Sorry to hear about Casey....I can't imaging having to go through something like that!!!

I love labs, in fact I love them sooo much that I dated a guy longer than I should have because I loved his dog so much I couldn't leave her (I know it was a shallow thing to do, but if you knew the dog, you would've done the same).... :*))  We definately weren't a good fit, but the dog was wonderful...I loved her more than I liked her dad... He said she mourned me for a couple of weeks after I left! It broke my heart to leave her  :'(

Sorry for your loss Tom, I had to put down my female mutt "Daisy" almost a year ago and it still kills me. But she is much better off now and not in pain any more.

Well my pet stores begin with my wife and mine relationship.  When we meat and started to see each other :@` out of work, she had 6wk and 2days puppy Jack Russell (we discovered later he closer to a parson).  Up this point of my life I only really liked large dog, but the little demon won me over.  His name was Jack (Yes HotCajun, a Jack Russell named Jack)  the ironic part about his name my wife choose his name before we knew each other.  She named him after the maker of the finest baptist beverage from this continent.  Jack Daniels.

We had our son and we name after ST Michael, (go figure a Catholic kid names his kid Michael)with our new addition to the house we decised that we need a dog that Michael would be able to play with, so enter stage left the American Shar Pei, Meike.  Named after the hot chick in Eurotrip.  At this point the wife has passed houselaw that all new names must begin with 'M.'  Unfortunately Jack and Meike did not last long and were lost in our moves back to OK  :'(

So now we have spawn all by himself and decided that kid needs a playmate/babysitter.  We came into a friend who breeds minpin and took the pick of the litter, Maximus, AKA Max.   :*))  Great dog good personality, but a lot of... yeah.

Recently we visited the pound in hopes of finding the perfect dog and the small hoe the our old Jack and Meike might be there.  So the pound has brought upon us two other dog.  Mini is my dog :-* and she is a  :@`90lbs mutt.  Monk was my wife response Mini's and mine bonding.  Monk is about ten week old now, and looks like a German Wirehair Pointer with Choc Lab.

Great stories, pic and maybe video to come
