Hi guys. Greetings from Ireland,
Glad to find this forum. Some fine looking bald heads here. I need some honest opinions. About a year and a half ago I noticed I was losing hair in the hairline and crown. I had shaved my head before when I was in my early 20's (I'm now 30), and a few girls had told me they liked it and I had a good shaped head for it (I was also working on building sites at the time so I was pretty lean too). So last year I decided to take the plunge again and re-shave. However the automatic reaction from family and friends was entirely negative, so I lost courage and regrew it almost straight away. I have since started propecia and minoxidil twice daily. I am getting great results in the crown but the left hairline is still receding so I am considering going down the cueball route again and this time giving myself and others a chance to acclimatise to it (for example letting some colour come into the skin where the hair used to be). However I am reluctant after the negative reaction last year. Thinking about it I can think of 3 possible reasons for this reaction. i) I was at least 19 kgs overweight (108 kg) , less tanned (I don't work outdoors anymore) and alot less healthier looking than the last time I shaved my head in in my early 20's so the hair was hiding this but when I went bald these problems were fully exposed. ii) My close friends and family were so used to me having hair ( I went from big bushy curls to bald overnight) that I should have given them more time to get used to my new look and then got their opinions. Or iii) My head shape just isn't suited to going fully bald (and those compliments I got the first time were misguided!). If it's the first two reasons thats fine and I'll go ahead as I've since lost the 19kgs, and I've begun working out so those concerns are no longer an issue. However if it's just that my head isn't suitable then I'll just hold on to the hair I have. I've included some pictures I took last year for you guys to judge. Please ignore the fat face and I've also had the red spot on my nose removed and I now wear contact lenses. I'm more interested in whether you think my head shape doesn't suit the bald look. Particularly if it is too big. I'ld really appreciate any feedback, positive or negative.
Regards,
Brendan

Welcome Brendan!
Obviously there's nothing wrong with your head shape. I think we haven't seen any proof so far that there really are guys with a head shaped so strange it has to be covered to save the world as we know it from being destroyed.
So I say try sly once more and follow the 30 days rule. I'm sure it will work for you.

Looks great Brendan. Staff off the propecia -- there are terrible side effects that stick with you for a long long time -- trust me I know from personal experience (e.g., breast tissue growth, lowered sex drive, howling at the moon and chasing cars - well not the last two). Plus you look great sly -- why mess with minoxidil and propecia when you look awesome without hair? Enjoy the freedom without worrying about whether your hair is growing back or not. Sly is a mainstream look now.

I think that's a wrong argument.... and a dangerous 1.... say no to drugs for a lot of reasons (unconfortability, costs, dependence....) but getting boobs with finasteride happens in very few people, usuallypeople who already has too much weight..
