Hey guys, first time poster from the UK here
I'm 22 and my hair has been thinning since I was about 18, its pretty thin on top now, in certain light conditions it looks okay but I really hate worrying about all that
To be honest this has made me pretty miserable, I also have scalp psoriasis, at the back and a little on one side, but I hear that shaving might help that...
Also I have seborrheic dermatitis (sure is fun being me!
) but that stays under control most of the time....
To shave or not to shave?

Looks a little thin on top, but not so thin that you need to shave it off -- yet. However, based on what you've said about the psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis, I'd suggest that you try shaving now. A few guys here have had the same problem and shaving brought about instant relief.

Thanks for the advice!
Maybe I'll just go for a #3 all over first?
my skin conditions get better with sunshine so it'd be nice to be free from them over the summer....

I'd probably start with a #2. #3 is really not that short. At least go shorter on the sides because it will look tidier.

Thanks!
I guess I'm okay for now, but I don't like the feeling of knowing I'm going to look different every month, you know?

Hey Dimbleby,
Firstly welcome to the forum. I would say that at your age, I was pretty much in the same boat but I have to confess didnt have any of the skin issues. Many guys on here will testify that shaving their head reduced their skin conditions considerably if not erradicated them.
I personally agonised with hairloss and considered all kinds of medical interventions. When I stumbled across this place nearly 4 years ago I realised that my decision to shave a year earlier when I was 27 was the only option, or at least the only sensible option. I still have moments, but deep down I am healthy, financially stable and have a great life. All of this has been achieved after I went sly and after I had experienced severe hairloss in my 20's. I finly believe that had I gone down the route of hair transplant or medication that none of those would be true.

I started shaving my head because of my psoriasis and have liked it so much I've never gone back

First off, Welcome Dembleby. IMHO opinion, your hair is thinning on top. To shave must be your decision. Personally, I do believe that you could carry the Sly look nicely. Good luck with your decisions.
