Crazy things you want to do
« on: May 07, 2010, 01:55:02 AM »
I recently put up a status on Facebook about having a motorcycle and the reason I don't have one.  I mentioned the reason I didn't have one was the same reason I won't go skydiving, even though I really, REALLY want to.  It's because I have a family that depend on me.  So, I got to thinking. What are some things that you really would love to do but don't because of whatever reason?

I would love to go skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jump off that bridge in WV I read about! lol

I guess I'm a closet adrenalin junkie. :D

GAslick, if you think you're a closet adrenalin freak, you might try something like getting involved with a local volunteer fire department, or maybe assist paramedics/ambulance driver.  From what I've heard you might get an adrenalin rush or two.   O0
As for riding a motorcycle, I guess it depends on how you ride that would get you your adrenalin rush.   C#)P
Regarding your other ideas, jumping out of a perfectly good plane (with a parachute) is another incredible rush, and I'm sure bungee jumping would be right up there too (just make sure the bungee is short enough- ow  :/O ).

When my oldest daughter was born, I sold my motorcycle.  That was just over 30 years ago.  I never, I mean never, see a bike without a serious case of OMG I wish I was on that.
Sky diving, bungee cords--given a real chance I probably would.  My wife & I on our honeymoon in Mexico were on the beach and parasailed--great rush.  Then at dinner, someone mentioned that there had been instances of a sudden gust of wind taking the sailor into a building near the beach--that was also a rush--and we never told our parents what we had done.

If I had the money I'd definitely buy a Harley-style bike.

I highly recommend skydiving.  It's like nothing else in this world.  I went tandem (strapped to another dude ><) the first and only time.  As soon as I landed I remember wanting to go again immediately and by myself.  Probably the biggest rush I've ever experienced.  Such an awesome experience!

As far as bungee jumping goes, just the thought of it scares the hell out of me.  Is it weird that I'm completely willing to jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet but am scared to death of bungee jumping?

I'd love to have a motocycle, but I'd be one of those people who'd want to ride without a helmet and in shorts since I hate having clunky things on my body and long clothing.  I do not have a motocycle because :
Prefer having my organs inside my body
I do not like having gravel embedded in my skin

I would have a cycle but I've already had enough lifesaving surgery....no need to push my luck on that front....I would have one moment of foolishness and that would be it.

I have never found skydiving or bungee jumping appealing because I really don't like heights that much, yet I don't have much issue with driving up narrow mountain roads. Go figure.

I would like to travel the world for many years. I want to be a digital nomad or business backpacker, as they call it :)

Location independent work that requires only the internet and hard work, like making websites or writing...  :)

I've always wanted to sky dive. I want to ride my Bike the 1600 miles to Sturgis one day.

You get one life and it's short... so do those things you think may be a bit dangerous.... like riding a motorcycle.

I wish I had a motorcycle.  I went as far as getting my license.  Used to have a hot rod in high school and college.  I repelled on occasion.  I'm a volunteer fire fighter (14 years)  guess  that will have to fill the hole.  I never had a taste for bungee jumping or sky diving.

After riding Moto-X with my cousing on and off for about 8 years and as well a  Tib/Fib fracture I decided it wasn't worth it any more.
I do want to rebuild ( or just buy ) a 1970 Buick GS stage 1 ....I know that's not real crazy.

Really I'm not an adrenaline junkie.  I'm usually a truck driver at the VFD.  I do love cars and motorcycles.  Here is my project car.  It  will just be a cruiser.

I have never found skydiving or bungee jumping appealing because I really don't like heights that much, yet I don't have much issue with driving up narrow mountain roads. Go figure.

The strangest thing I found from my skydive was that there was no real sensation of height.  At 12,500ft (or whatever it was) you are so high up that things become abstract.  You actually lose the perspective that you're up really, really high and instead it seems like you're looking down at a really big and detailed map.  Even when I was falling I didn't have that sense of weightlessness or butterflies in my stomach like I expected.  It seemed more like I was lying down and being blasted with an intense stream of air.
You don't know me, but I know you.
