I have posted many negative, self questionning posts over the years about struggling to come to terms with hairloss. They are no more! That is done!
I wont go into details but I have been getting some professional help.
I just wanted to share with you all that at the moment, and it may well be only at the moment, but things are looking up, I hope you dont mind me posting this - it is just that I have felt terrible for weeks and for the moment i have some respite.
I was having a conversation with my, 'professional helper' (hope that doesnt sound like a prostitute!!) yesterday and the discussion was on hairloss. It went something like this:
Her: So what is it you dont like about it?
Me: I dont like the way it looks.
Her: Well why dont you do something about it?
Me: Like what?
Her: Well you could grow it out, you could get some Rogaine, or plastic surgery.
Me: No way
Her: Why?
Me: What would that achieve? It would just extend what I have been feeling, it wouldnt be me, it would be fake, why should I care? What a waste of money.
Her: Well if it would make you happier.
Me: It wouldn't
Her: Why?
Me: I dont want to be made happy by regrowing hair, I want to be happy and comfortable in my own skin. The issue isnt losing my hair, it is about feeling comfortable with my identity again.
And there we have it, simple, but a realisation and progress. I hope yuo dont mind me sharing, but the last 24 hours have been the most relaxing and peace filled that I have had for weeks. I even got my guitar out and had a good strum last night.
Hope this wasnt too much of an insight into something quite personal.
