Just found this forum by accident while doing another search and very glad to be here in like company

. I started losing my hair in my early 20s, not too long after my discharge from the military. In fact, I had more hair in the military than I did after, lol. But before I went in the service, I had a HUGE afro and never envisioned the day I would lose my hair forever, at least on top. My father was bald, but I forgot that if your grandfather on your mother's side is bald, guess what?
Anyway, about 15 years ago I went completely bald on top and it was indeed traumatic, especially at a young age when losing hair should be the last thing a man in his young years should occupy himself with. I wore hats, tried rogaine and all that other stuff that barely works

.
I went to HCM and thankfully didn't fall into their trap. I went to a similar company and bought a "rug" for a couple of hundred. True, I got my confidence back, but who was I fooling? Plus, the toupee was a pain to maintain, uncomfortable and in time, it looked ridiculous, but I was unphased. As long as the bald spot was covered, I didn't care. I'm sure people could tell, but again, It didn't matter.
About ten years ago, I took the plunge, tossed the rug and shaved my head. It was tough at first, but I was ME and didn't have to hide behind a POS rug. It eventually felt great not having to tussle with it each morning and having tape and glue on my scalp.
Plus, being bald was written in the stars for me and no amount of fake hair or other procedure would conceal it. People also told me how much better I looked and couldn't envision me with hair.
I have discovered over the years that if you are not happy, confident and secure with yourself, NO one will be. Hair will NOT fill that void.
To you younger guys who are dreading the inevitable, just let nature take it's course. Don't let these commericials devalue you because you are going bald. That's just a way for them to get you to open your wallet. They could give a crap about your happiness. Happiness is within.
Don't allow people to tell you that women don't like bald guys, because that is is a myth as well.
Sorry for the long post, but wanted to share. Thanks, all.
