Horrible incident at my son's school
« on: March 24, 2010, 05:11:41 AM »
Yesterday morning there was a horrible incident at my 13 year old son's school.
His class had gym second period. As he and some of his friends that are on the track team with him ran the track one of the boys collapsed and went into full cardiac arrest.
Only the quick actions of the gym teacher and the fact that our firehouse is about 1/2 mile from the school saved his life. The gym teacher performed CPR while some of the students ran into the school and called 911.
The ambulance was there in literally moments and they revived him with the paddles. He was then flown to Hershey Hospital where he is currently in ICU in stable condition.

My son is good friends with this boy and it shook him up badly.... as it did many of the kids. This boy is a trim, atheletic kid, only 13 years old...... and I was shocked when I heard who it was.

Please keep the Arnold family in your Prayers today.... especially young Travis.

Prayers offered up.
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

Prayers for sure!  A guy in my HS died of the same thing while playing a pickup game of Basketball.

I feel very badly for you and your son  - unfortunately "this is life'

and I hope you do not think that you are alone  - -yesterday a very good friend of mine died and it was on his son's birthday
two weeks ago a little girl died as a beginning cheer leader  - knew them well

Just one more  - - -my partner of 32 years and I found his parents murdered in their home in New York several years ago

I do not understand why we share these horrible incidents with each other  on a Forum  that we are to enjoy     - -and make us feel good about being SLY BALD

Dude... we share them in order to cope, vent, and receive support. The title of this thread is pretty clear so just pass on these things if you choose.

You son and his friend are in my prayers, Mike.   I have to say though, I am starting to think that your little community is under one black cloud.  So much tragedy in such a small space of time.

Sorry to hear about this, Mike.  Do they know why it happened -- a genetic condition they didn't know about, a reaction to medication, etc.??

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. As of last night, Travis is breathing on his own and is alert and speaking to his parents. Nobody has any information on why this happened.

The responses of all you guys, save one, are the exact reason I (and we) post things like this on the Forum. I'm a big Believer in the Power of Prayer and this amazing Forum has never once failed in that area since I've been a member.

Once again..... Peace my Brothers........
