Please recommend a shaving cream.
« on: March 16, 2010, 11:14:40 AM »
New to the site, although I've been lurking quite a bit.  Based off of suggestions on here, I've purchased the Head Blade and Head Slick.  I've then moved onto the Gillette Fusion and the Billy Jealousy Hydroplane Super-Slick Shave Cream.  Also, I use Hot Six as a pre-shave oil.   This trifecta has been pretty good but I just ran out of the Billy Jealousy and I'm wondering if there's anything better (although it is great in and of itself).

So, that's where I am today, at your behest.

I was in Target the other day and came across this:

http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/SD0402/OrganicSpearmintPeppermintShavingGel.htm

The ingredients sound great, but, as I'm sure we all know, that doesn't translate to a great shave.

I was also considering getting the Zirh Shave Cream, which I have heard great things about.  Of course, the price isn't that great (22.50 for a 8 oz. jar), but, if it's worthwhile, I'm all for it.

Now, the only things that I look for in a shave cream are something that will leave my head feeling soft after, help in some way with my infrequent razor bump occurrence, assist me in getting a close shave since I only shave with the grain and can be found rather easily.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, guys.

I'm sure you'll get lots of replies. Right now, I like the Aveeno line of shaving gels. Readily available, they claim to help with razor bumps, etc. it's inexpensive and works great for me. I will say, that I do prefer a shaving cream/gel to lather so I can see where I've shaved a bit easier...

I have an order from Bald Guyz on the way with their shaving gel, also. Never tried it before...

Oh yeah- Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the great recommendation, omegapd.  I used to use Aveeno way back when, like maybe 12 years ago, but just for my beard.  Don't know if it's changed much but it was one of the best back then.
