Need some help..
« on: February 09, 2010, 04:15:52 AM »
Hello guys. I am Michael, 20 years old Pinoy college student.

Im having a problem with my hair since i was on highschool. Back then, i dont really care but now, it makes me feel down. I'm a fan of combovers since I dont have other options to consider. I really hate it when people are looking and laughing at me. That makes me crazy and start a fight. Im a little paranoid about my hair. To make the story short, I dont have a life and definitely lonely.

Until i met this girl. She was my ex girlfriend for almost 3 years. but after the break-up, we never had a chance to talk to each other. I met her again last week. To be honest, she's the closest person i have right now. Oh, she noticed my hair. (See the first pic below). Good thing is, she doesnt care. Damn.. that makes me really happy.

She said that it would be better if i just buzz it off. That's what I did. Yesterday, I went to the barber shop for a #1  buzz. Im thinking of shaving when i get home. But, my mom's reaction surprised me. She was like " WTF have you done to your hair? Are you on drugs or something?! You look like sh*t!" Damn.. that was harsh. That comment stops me from shaving my dome.

As you can see on the second pic. The bald spot was a bit obvious. So the question is.
Should i shave it? Do i look bad on a buzzed hair? Shaving it will definitely makes my mom angry. so I'm kinda confused.

Thanks a lot in advance..

By the way.. I posted another pic. ( see the 3rd pic below ).  Is it normal for a no.1 buzz cut to show my skin like that? or does my mpb starting to get worst?

Welcome Cypher.   From the photo you posted the spot seems to be quite small and I am not sure it would really be noticable to others.   The buzz cut looks great, so for now why not just go with that until people get used to you with the shorter hair.

Let it evolve and adjust the cut to your own pace. Time is not the enemy.

Hi Cypher,

I think it looks great :) Try not to take your mother's comment personally :) When I buzzed it, my mother didn't like it at first. She is used to it now. It's a shock for her: she identifies a buzzed head with being a criminal, but later she will identify it with you, so she will be okay :)

Can take a few month though haha ;) But remember, it's not what your mom thinks, it's what the ladies think that you are after :) If it was up to my mom, I would probably wear a wig right now with a pot haircut or something.

So, remember: what your mom wants is you to be happy. She doesn't know that you like this hairstyle so much and didn't like your previous one. So that's why I said: don't take it personally :)

Cypher, welcome to SBG!  I think they buzz looks fine on you.  I'm married to a Pinay and many of my Pinoy friends sport a shaved head.  Go with the buzz for awhile and then shave when YOU are ready.

Your buzz cut looks very good to me.
Because of the head's shape and the different directions in which the hair grows, depending on the lighting there can be darker and brighter areas to be seen as in your 3rd picture so that's normal.

Don't forget: Be patient - to yourself and to others - everybody needs a chance to get used to your new look.  8)
