Its true, being 24 and balding since 21 I thought my life was over, but reading the posts here and seeing how well people on this site were dealing with it really helped me get a new perspective on losing my hair. Now I embrace it, I cant wait for it all to fall out so I can quit shaving lol

I'm in the same line of thinking as FightFan. As i have said before, i was 20 when i started losing my hair. It took me quite a bit of time and the help of the guys on this forum to finally shave it off. Been quite a while now and i love it.

I fall into that category, I'm turning 22 soon and while I can just barely hide my hair loss, I run to the bathroom at every chance to make sure my hair is exactly right. It drives me nuts... I know I need to go sly, but I just can't seem to find the balls to do it. Guys here have helped a lot, but I can't seem to get to the point where I can shave. Part of the problem is that I CAN still hide it with some success. If I didn't have a choice, and you could tell regardless, I would just shave. Hopefully one day soon...

Tomis,
I believe you will eventually arrive at the point where you will shave it off. Some get there quicker than others, and I was definitely not quick to get there

. While it may seem easier said than done, I eventually went sly after combing over thining hair and hiding under a toupee for 15 years. Honestly, I felt free.
I also learned that if you let nature take it's course the way it was intended to, you will accept going and being bald a lot easier.

If you have a problem with your hair and you are trying to hide it you are not going to solve it. You are in the defense.
You waste all your energy on something that is not worth that effort at all.
If you discover a friend is talking bad about you behind your back what would you do?
Pretend you don't know and everything is ok? And agonize about it all the time?
Or would you talk to him and then he's still your friend or not but at least the burden is off your shoulders?
(I know it's a bad analogy.)
When you accept the reality and take control - you are the "decider".
Of course, the first step is the hardest. But it won't get easier by waiting and hoping.
Act now. You don't have to shave. You can do with your hair whatever you want. But you can't hide.

One of those times you rush to the bathroom to comb and repair he damage, see if you can get a hand mirror--why? Because, when you use it to look at the "do" all the way around my bet is that the choice then becomes not sitting down--people can see the top & the problems there, get behind you--and they can see them there too, of from the side, because there just isn't enough to hide the receding at the temples--and hence they know you're bald.
It's awful to deal with that nagging suspicion that someone is looking exactly at the worst part, noticing how thin it is, how much scalp is showing. That isn't really any fun at all. The only safe way to get out of that jam is the blade, that's it.

I was right there Tomis. I know exactly what you are going through.
The earlier you do it the better. I know what it feels like to go through endlessly looking in mirrors and avoiding wind and rain.
Once you do it you will know it was the right decision.
Just buy a buzzer and start buzzing it down. Then bust out the razor when you want a real clean look.

I can remember being in that exact same situation. The problem is you know the day is coming when you WON'T be able to hide it, but you won't know when it will come -- which means, every day you're wondering, is this the day that the cat gets let out of the bag? And it starts to dominate your life.
My game plan was always to hang on to my hair for as long as I can, and then shave it all off once I noticed that it had begun to look "really bad." The problem was that it was looking really bad for a while before I even realized it. It's only now when I go back and look at old photos that I realize how bad it really was.
I first noticed that my hairline was receding when I was 20. I had very thick hair, and the recession and thinning were very slow, so it took a long time to become obvious to others. That allowed me to delude myself for a long time that it wasn't really happening. I should have started shaving my head around the time I turned 30, and I wish I'd started when I was around 25 or 26, even though I didn't "have to" yet. It makes things much easier in the long run. Remember that
being bald is a lot better than
going bald.
