Well, I wonder. A fellow Sly here, a couple of months back, hearing my distress over the loss of a favorite discontinued razor (a Shick injector) actually went so far as to send me, gratis!, an antique (circa 1940s) model--amber Bakelite handle, gold-plated metal, really classy object, and I think it puts current instruments to shame, if not for "perfection" of shave, certainly for aesthetics.
Well, I put in a blade (still available) and, folks, it's still giving good shaves. I'll admit that some of my shaves are at the gym with a disposable razor, but the blade in the "Golden Razor" yet provides a reasonable shave! Maybe it's magic; maybe it's luck, but I'm amazed. I sometimes wonder if we are all somewhat deluded. How so? In that shaving technology has long been perfected, and our panting after the newest implement is only a sign of the effectiveness of "the sell." Well, anyway, I'll go to my grave with a single-blade razor in my hand.
Other "old fashioned" fans out there? I will admit that I'm not so old-fashioned as to want to go to a cut-throat blade...
